In my neighborhood, a highschooler had recently wrote an essay for a scholorship for college. It asked to write about courage. This was his..

"THIS, is courage."

3 Freakin words and he got a scholarship. I wish I couldve thought of that.

I've heard stories about those type of people, so it's not totally out of this world. How much did he receive?

I don't get it. What's "THIS"? Had I been on the scholarship board, I would have laughed my ass off and denied him.

Im not sure how much he exactly got but at least a couple of grands.

Hey cam the reason is because he's showing he has that much of courage to write 3 words knowing that he'll get the scholarship.

I think "THIS" refers to that essay that he wrote. You need courage to write a 3 word essay lol

exactly. But if you think about it that "essay" is pretty good. It makes alot of sense.

I didn't get any scholarships though. Damn it.

THAT is obnoxious.

But when you have an education system geared towards rewarding those who are "creative," those who throw a ball well, or those who are non-majority, rather than a meritocracy, that's what you get.

I don't in the least doubt that it was creative and unorthodox, my heart just sinks a little when I see creativity winning out over well-thought argument and good composition skills.

Really, those three words while "clever" offer no mark as to the intelligence and ability of the writer.
