I've seen those at authentic Chinese restaurants. I can eat calamari and even octopus sushi, but I just can't work up to eating the whole thing like that.

Squid, if I'm not mistaken, no? Eat it, you'll be fine. :) Good with lots of horseradish and marinara!

Ah, yes, those are what are referred to as "whole bodies". I only eat the legs. JB eats the whole bodies. They're not bad, but you have to close your eyes and eat them with horseradish as Izzy said.

What's the difference when calamari is served chopped up or whole? It's the same. The legs are the best!

What's a bit weird for me is when I have whole squid at some Indian, Thai and other south-Asian restaurants because sometimes the guts aren't cleaned out. Yes, they're intentionally served that way, too.

You'd vomit to think what we filipinos think of how squid's to be served. Hell, even I'm sick when I think about it.

Not quite as bad as that...but let's just say the squid prepared is actually black and purple. Pusit, I believe it is called.

Oh.... okay. They use the dye in it? I'm allergic to the dye. I can only have cooked squid which sucks because I love sushi. I can't have squid or octopus raw.

I don't know, particularly. I don't try it, for health reasons. :)
