So i gotta talk to my GM at work..story/question for you

So i have been working at this place for almost a year now..and i bust my ass. I shuld have gotten a 90 review/raise but i never got it..after my friend who got the job a few months after me alreayd got his..so i brught it up to him:

First convo:
me:So when do i get my 90 review/raise?
GM: Its been done...But it dosnt mean i have to see it.
Me: Well i would like to see it.
GM: Well, then i think i will have to redo some stuff over so you can look at it (bull shit)

so i said to my self 'alright what ever...'

Few more months go by and i go into his office:
Me: So Eric..I would like to talk to you about my raise/review..
GM: yea what about it?
me: I never got it..
GM: oh, i'm usaly good about that stuff i'm sorry i didnt give it to you, i'll work on it and have it done next time you come in for work.

So that next time he hasnt been working, or i wasnt working when he was in..So basicly prob. tomarow or whensday I'm going over to say to him if he didnt do the review:
"eric if the Review is not done by the next time i work, then i'm going to bring this up with Corrp.." or some thing like that..

So now my Question is, what i said above good? or shuld i say some thing more to make sure he knows i'm serious?

cause I have the Si and i'm lucky i have enugh payments already for 6 months..But i'm making $6.50 and i need more money..and once this new place opens up near my house i'm applying there so i'm not going to be at the currant place long.

Note: Yes i may get fired for what i say..but my dad wont care they cut my hours alot and he tells me "if you get fired then just give them the name tag and tell them to shouve it up there ass."

Just dont get angry. Stay calm, reason with your boss and you should be fine.

I got 5 grand from my Grandpa (cause i had the balls to ask him for it for a diffrent car) he said keep it untill you have a better car...

then my other grandparents gave me 2 grand for payments since they gave my brother a car..

So i put 8200 down, and have OVER 6 months coverd from working 2 jobs during the summer.

If you can go to corprate....your a lucky man....but you have to be preparedto act like an ANGEL when you go to work because...they are going to try to find something to get you on to fire you. If you go to corprate and he tries to fire you, you probably can have a little lawsuit going... ALSO...when you get the raise ask for a RETRO check....which is money that is owed to you from a promotion that you should have gotten!....1 of my friends did that he got a check for $3400 in back pay....fight for what is owed....all those companies can wipe their own ass with 3400 dollars...ya know....Good Luck!!!!

what kind of company?

is there a union?

can you get in touch with your human resources department?

I would deffinately suggest against leaving on bad terms. especally telling them to shove it up their ass. many times burning bridges is the worst thing that you can do.

IMO- Talk to your GM, request it ASAP and tell him that its unsatisfactory and unfair. Speak with your Human resources department if there is one and tell them the story, but besure you have your evidence (past paystubs). If you've got a union- which it sounds like you dont.. speak with them and see what they can do.

Stuff like this is why companies have human resources departments.

Ask yourself, "are you expendable". Can they get any other shmuck to work and do what you're doing for $6.50/hr? If the answer is yes, then it won't matter what you say to your GM or anyone above him, and it's not worth it to you. The fact that he has not been forthright with you tells me either you're not worth his time or he's just another mid-level manager who could give a crap about anyone but himself. Here's my advice, save your battle for a job that's worth it.

yea, i see what your saying..But I think its crap that EVERY one who i talked to They got there raise/review..and they can't fire me really..it would put them in the hole..I work in the box office, and really theres only 2 openers..and thats me and another kid, whos going to quit soon..and the Connessinst they only have 2 openers so they need me or there going to have to hire more people which they DON'T like doing..

But to me, its CRAP my dad was a GM at True Vaule and he says i have a right to say this, and like some one eles said if he fires me over this then i can have a lawsuite..

Is there some sort of written by-law, headquarters policy concerning this raise? In other words... do they HAVE to give it to you? In-N-Out Burgers pays $9.25/hour to start. Can't you find a better paying job with less hassle?

Well just incase you decide to leave instead maybe you should go try retail or maybe Home Depot. They pay pretty good. Heck, you live in Buffalo Grove you'll be able to make a pretty good pay check up that way. I lived in Glendale Heights and worked at Home Depot back in '98-99 full time and I got paid really well. Home Depot will work with you on your college schedule too if you decide to go to NIU or something.

Sorry dude, that sucks. I can't believe you can afford an Si on 6.50.

Minimum wage out here in Cali is 6.75(soon to be 7.50), and most of my employees who get paid 7 can't even afford a 5th gen civic as it is!

Go work somewhere else though. Managers don't give raises for a reason - they have certain criteria to meet and one of those is making sure payroll stays low. He's just being a dick and you should probably put in your two weeks if it remains that way.

Man, go apply at Home Depot, they start you off at about $8-9/hr and are flexible with your schedule. Its kinda hard to get in(alot of people apply) but if you pm me i think i can help you out :)

Regal cinemas has a track record for being absolutle tools when it comes to salaries.
