Anyone been to Kuwait?

Dammit! I'm getting deployed for a YEAR!!! I just found out around 10a.m. this morning that I'm going back to the Middle East (it's been 5 years). Well, I knew it would happen sooner or later. I'm sort of happy that its sooner not later. :rolleyes: Hubby isn't happy.

Just when I was getting used to the states again and trying to be a civilian. Damn.

At least I know I'll be gainfully employed for the next year and that I'll be getting paid pretty good. I've got my motivation to keep my head up. Unfortunately, one motivating factor will be in Minnesota. The other will be in a driveway and sometimes a performance shop down in VA.

SI-R, you're gonna have some competition soon as far as the post deployment car modding goes.

My roommate (National Guard) was in Kuwait for about 9 months. They sent him home early because there wasn't anything for him to do. My other roommate has a brother (Army Reserve) in Iraq right now. He's getting ready to end a 545 day tour.

It sucks you're getting called over. Where are you being deployed?

And, if you need, just go ahead and drop that car off in Louisville and I'll be sure to keep her taken care of.

I don't know where I'm going to in there. Not yet anyway. Sorry, Cam. My sister and bro inlaw are getting first dibs on the car. They have a garage and my bro in law loves the car (the grown up keeping it pretty way, not the drive like a demon way

) so they're going to take care of it. They'll have my car and my dog. All they need now is my husband to stay there then they'll have all of my favorite things.

Sorry to hear girl...but kuwait is not as bad as Iraq or afghanistan. I've been to both parts and you'll be just fine in KU. Take good care of yourself now.

Do you know the name of the base your going too? My friend just got hit up for a year TDY, but he is in Afghanistan though so I would say that you are lucky.

For the most part, there's still Internet access. My buddy in Iraq actually has his laptop with him and we chat it up once or twice a week on AIM. I'm sure Dawn's going to find some time to check the site.

Well if you luck out maybe you can pretend to hit Vtec with a Humvee. I know that kept me in good spirits when I was in Korea for two years. Its no SI but hey if you break it someone else will pay for the damages.

Call me if you need anything before you go (pm for number). I'm active duty at Mcguire and have been there more times then I would like ans still go about 4 months out of every year. Its not as bad there now as it was on 91-92 and 03. Get a laptop. As far as you car goes. If you want it secure the military has to put it in climet controlled storage while you are gone and your hubby can still have access.

My cousin just left Kuwaitt. She a captain in the army. She been station there for 2 year. I'm glad she back in Germany.
