The repo man is gonna come soon.
This is quite a long story, but its quite interesting, at least i thought it was.
this is a true story.. lol its happening to a friend of mine right now :P he recently went to a dealer ship in hopes of trading in his car for a 2008 avenger, or something along those lines... When him and the sales rep worked up all the prices, the car that he wanted came out to like 14,000 , and the dealer was giving him 4,000 for his car as credit in the trade in. so now he's signing paper work to do a 10,000 financing, through the dealer. So acouple days later, he gets a call from the dealer asking for pay stubs from work and what not, and then they say that he can come pick up his new car. So he gets there, they transfer the plates, and he signs over the ownership of his new car to the dealer, thinking that he's the owner of the 2008 avenger. the dealer tells him that the ownership papers arent in yet, but he can use the bill of sale as proof if he gets pulled over, and the ownership should be in in the next couple of days. So off he goes. 2 days later, he decides to call the financing institution to ask them some questions about his loan.... When he tells them his name and what not, they kinda studder, and say "ummm... you dont have a loan with us". so after a 20 minute conversation, and explanation of the story, he realised that something is wrong, and he actually REALLY has no loan, under his name with the financial institution that the dealer was claiming. So he decides to pay the dealer a visit. Gets there, the doors are shut, and there are about 20 angry people standing outside. ummm... So now you think... he's in possession of a new car, that he has no loan for, so... whats the problem? Weeelllll... he goes to the ministry of transportation and gets a used vehicle package... turns out theres a BIG lean on the car, with the auction company that sold this vehicle to the dealer, who hasnt payed for it. SO, now he has a car thats gonna get repo'd ones the auction guys find out that nobody is paying for the car, AND he signed over his old car, so he cant even report it stolen anymore, cause its not his. the police just kinda shrug their shoulder, and mumble... i dont think they even know what to do... i told him to park the avenger in the garage at night. |

WTF? So he went to a dealership and was coaxed into trading in his car for nothing basically? He was given a "loaner" and was told it was his new car?!
Wow dude, that's ****ed up. I hope he gets this worked out, hopefully without being put too far out and living too long without a car. Sorry.

If there is a lein, take out a new loan with a bank and they will pay off the lein. Then they will throw a new lein on for your friend and continue making payments. Its not that hard. How much is owed on the car?

Since the lien is through the auction company, maybe he can just pay what they were supposed to get from the dealer for the car. He may only owe them 5k or so.

Reporting it as stolen sounds like a good idea. Although putting a car in the garage is not hiding it. The repo people will get it anyway, as soon as you leave to go to the store or to work they will watch and follow....
