Why do people buy......

Why do people buy gauge pods and gauges???

is it for show or for the informatioin that they give!!!

just wondering what other people think about it.... I dont think i'm feeling the gauges anymore...

I think the OEM gauges give you all the info you need, unless you've done some crazy motor work (such as turbo, then you may need a boost gauge.......even then, if you set your boost through a boost controller, it may be redundant then)

I personally wouldn't want them because I like my car stock as it is, but if you do have them, there must be something you need to know that the OEM equipment can't display.

Just like most everything else, I think that they have a purpose (information without taking your eyes off of the road), but most people have no use for them and buy them for looks. With modern engines, do you really need to know the oil pressure, vacuum, etc. etc. unless you have a seriously rebuilt engine?

So what you're saying is, you're not going to hop on the local band wagon and lower your car on it's stock wheels, get a fart can and a big yellow tach?

We can be in the "not cool" civic owners club.

Nah, "I like it stock" is just a poor excuse for me not being able to afford all the nice goodies like you

In all seriousness, I would just want some upgraded wheels and possibly some navigation (no real practical use for navi for me, but it IS one of my simple wants in life)

OH and stainless steel clutch and brake lines

Might as well go with a rear disc conversion....heck then go with a front big brake conversion

Oh and can't forget about the rear and front anti-sway bars

come to think of it, I might as well pose with the gauges even though I don't need them.

Most people who buy them use it for show. I mean, do you think it's necessary to have a 120mm RPM gauge when one is on your cluster? That's just ridiculous!

I can see why you need it when it comes to F/I though.

Plug in RPM tree for shifts points. Handy and not as obtrusive as a GIANT RPM guage sitting on the dash.

for my last car i had a 3pod gauge on the pillar
hole 1) boost/vac guage (car was supercharged from factory, later Turbo'd) needed to know what PSI i was running
hole 2 and 3) Aeroforce Scan guages- these let me monitor Knock retard, timing, O2 values, transmission temps, engine temps, rpm, injector pulse widths and a plethora of other specs

For the Grand Prix i found them invaluable as it was highly mod'd and always knowing what was going on was very important.

For my Civic I get in, turn the key and drive. Once a week i check the gas guage and thats about all. I love it. :)

I actually wouldn't mind one of those. My dad's ridgeline has one stock and it was actually pretty useful. We live in a shitty neighborhood(didn't used to be that way but that immigration law didn't pass so what can you do?) and the kids in our area like to throw crap all over the streets, mostly glass bottles for some stupid ass reason. Needless to say, we get alot of flats. :/
