Brother in Law gets coilovers => Wheel falls off the next day when driving!!

My bro in law has an 01 Maxima, he had some KSport coilovers installed Tuesday, along with a set of 19's, the car looked great. This was all done at a reputable place in Fairfield NJ-car was corner balanced..everything.

He leaves the place and hear's a clicking noise the next morning, weird. Then he gets a call from the shop telling him their machines were calibrated wrong, and the wheels are not on tight enough so they say bring it back in (why didn't they come to his house?)

He is on his way back, takes a sharp turn at 30 and the drivers side front goes flying!! Ripped the studs right off the car, luckily he was able to steer it to the shoulder. I get to him at 9pm last night, AAA screwed us and sent 2 wreckers when I specifically asked for a flatbed, so at midnight AAA calls and says we can't find a flatbed you're on your own...ok...

I finally get a flatbed, he had to drag the car up onto the bed, the rotor grinding into the pavement, almost ripped the bumper off..man what a mess.

His 1/4 panel is smashed, brake wrecked, rim wrecked, rocker panel wrecked..and that's all on the outside, who knows what else is wrong.

Poor dude spends all this $ car was looking great and this happens. The place is going to cover everything including body work and the tow.

The car will get fixed, he's just lucky this didn't happen on Rt80 taking a turn at 70-80.

I'll post pics tonight!

Cliffs: Bro in law gets new coilovers, next day wheel falls off, causes $$ damage, Shop covering everything, AAA sucks.

so his wheel studs were loose? he could have tightened them a bit before driving again. Unless it was something else that broke? Usually clicking means the wheel is loose, take out the emergeny tire iron out of the trunk and torque them down a bit.

I agree I guess it couldn't hurt to check or tighten them up for the drive. The car is back there now, so I'm not sure what caused it, but they admitted to doing something wrong..

Sorry to hear, but its good that your bro is ok. One of the lug nuts fell off of my bro's car and we gave the dealership crap the next time we brought it in.
