Name my Dog!

He arrives via American Airlines on Saturday! He's a 8 week old Male German Shorthair Pointer weighing in at 17lbs and hailing from Kansas City!

He will be all liver in color, no ticking or spots and should be 65lbs as a adult. His interests include phesants, quail, chuckers, licking things and humping!

Options for names are:

Porter or Avery!

I googled searched your pup, wow so cute but looks like he could be handfull when he is older.

What are his traits, tracker/hunter type dog? I just google searched pics not info.

My rotti is a hearding/protector dog and he is a handful...lol

Hes a pointer so he is going to be a 50-100 yard and come back type dog.
They are protective over their family, especially children. He is certainly going to be a handful if he does not get enough exercise. Luckly the wifey will run with him in the mornings and I will throw a tennis ball with him in the evenings until he is too tired to tear up the house. They really get attached to humans so you cant leave them alone for a long time of they will chew!

I know this is going to sound mean but I highly recommend kennel training for potential chewer dogs. I did two years of kennel training with my boy and he has never chewed anything he shouldn't have.

There is no question about that. I already have the big Kennel for when he outgrows the Kennel he is being shipped in!

Kennel training is not mean, they are used to it. They actually freak if the Kennel is too big. It has to be big enough for them to stand and turn around but not much bigger. If its too big they get stressed because its not like a "den".

There is no chance I would NOT kennel train.

I went through 4 kennels in two years, I bought them as my boy grew. I still have his kennel in the spare room but he hasn't been in it in over a year.

When I mention kennel training to some they have freaked on me...lol I lived and learned with another past dog i had. Kennel training for my future doggies is mandatory.
