Anyone here CCNA certified?

Im planning on self-teach myself over winter break. I took the class back in HS but i was a lazy SOB and didnt learn ish... and now i regret it alot

Now as a junior in college i realized i need to start getting certified in various things if i want to get a job later on in life. And since its really hard to get a job these days due to all the outsourcing I need to start working very hard.

Anyways if anyone here is certified in this or anything higher and know of any good books to get please gimme some info.. would greatly appreciate it

yea i just went to Barnes and Noble.... so many books lol

i downloaded a whole CD which has videos and stuff explaining it alot... but i want something similar to CCNA for Dummies (prob will get that book)

Im not that good with networking and still dont know all the terms and stuff... I took the class back in HS and that was my 1st computers class so i was really clueless on what a HUB was and Switches... and i havent touched the material since then. Even tho I am a CS major in college they only talk to us about languages (nothing about networking). So im still kinda clueless.

I talked to a friend of the family who is certified in some kind of exam that only 1k people in the US have. He said to get a job all i need is a Bachelors in CS (cuase just for show really) and start learning and getting certified in CCNA, CCIE, CCNP etc... so i want to learn somehow. To bad there are no classes like that in my college.

Anyways Shemmy if you read this please give me some of your input. Would greatly appreciate it. Maybe im starting off too high...CCNA... when i really dont know alot about networking yet.

Anyways thanks webby for your input... and if anyone knows anything... it would greatly help.

Thanks

I'm more in the application development / system analysts type stuff and not so much the networking.

If you are into programming there are a bunch of Microsoft certifications out there. I know that we have had a few MCSDs (Microsoft Certified Solutions Developers) here as consultants and they make really good money. You really have to work to get that certification though. I haven't taken any of the tests to become one mostly because my boss won't pay for any of it.

Here's a link you might find interesting:
