Yep, I messed up badly...

In honor of BLU's post about shotpeening via oil, I feel it is time to mention something that has me a bit embarrassed.

I was recently told that we could use E85 in our Si's. With the price of gas the way it is I figured I could save a bit $$$ and live with the performance hit through the summer months until gas prices dropped a bit. Wow, what a mistake.

I immediately noticed a horrible knocking sound right after I filled up. I figured this was just the engine 'calibrating' itself to the new gas. I was able to drive it without a problem, but the knocking persisted, particularly under hard acceleration. I also notice a pretty thick grey cloud of smoke coming from the exhaust. After a few days of driving I noticed that there was a slimy puddle of blackish/grey goo under my exhaust tip in the garage. I figured it was just exhaust soot and the high humidity combining to make a bit of tail sludge. No big deal, right?

Well, a few days ago I noticed that I could not get the car over about 5500 RPMs and it has begun to stall badly under hard acceleration. I am guessing I have things clogged up a bit and need to get it cleaned out.

Any ideas? I was thinking a bit of Lucas gas treatment and maybe some injector cleaner would do the job? I wonder if I can shot peen the fuel system to clean it out?

if your serious, go fill up with 94 octane and a bottle of gas system treatment.

before it gets really bad.

Yeah, I was told that high octane gas would react badly with the E85 left in the tank. Funny, it was the same guy that told me about the E85 in the first place...should I be suspicious?!?!

E85 in CIVICS? Uh unless the car says that it accepts E85 ethanol, it's probably not a good idea to put it in your tank. Why would you believe what one person says over what the manufactuer says? I'd recommend draining your gas tank to get the rest of the e85 out then put some high octane fuel in there. That really sucks though cuz who knows if that could cause serious problems down the road. If you don't have an extended warranty i'd think about gettin one to be safe. Also wouldn't recommend going to the dealership to get the tank drained.

ok, so here's my thing. What's with you two in starting joke threads? They're actually not funny. More like "oh he's just an idiot looking for some attention". I just don't find the humor in joking about the shit you guys are joking about. Unless of course you guys enjoy making yourself look like idiots...

Two words for me, JC: Water Cooler

Really, its all in fun. Playing the fool is a good thing at time.

I also gave quite a few clues, particularly with the lead-in and the "Edit" message Heh, many folks who have been here for a while know I have 'thing' about joking around E85. :)

Couldn't you just stick a siphon hose in there and suck all of the E85 out? It shouldn't be any different than eating Popeyes.
