LOL I think they got tired of Checking us because by the time I got through there you would not believe what I smuggled back. I got all kinds of Shrapnel and Mortar tail fins.

I had a soldier that only did the year and 33 weeks initial enlistment, was stop lossed in Iraq and picked up the 6yr/22.5k they were offering to the stop loss soldiers at the time. Talk about playing your cards right!

They aren't offering anything more than a 1.0B bonus in my MOS right now. I'm too far out to re-enlist right now. I just hope they lift the FENCE and i can call branch some time soon. I wanna go back with the 3 ACR. Like they say, "You never know what you got till it's gone." Were you with 1st Bge that relieved us up north (Mosul/Tall Afar/Sinjar) in FEB 2006? or were you part of the ready reserve they had in Kuwait?

My parent unit stayed in Kuwait, My team went forward to support our 1st BDE way before they left Mosul and went to Ramadi, I personally ended up being tasked to the Marines of India Co. 3/8 and 9th Comm.

I was with 3ID the first time for the initial assault, so everywhere from Kuwait, up to Baghdad. Second time I was with 3ID attached to 101st, just in Baghdad.

ok i have been to probably every major airstrip in iraq and the problem with kuwait is that its super hot and dusty all the time. at least when we flew into iraq it would be cooler and there would be some sort of cloud cover plus it rains a lot more in iraq. the farther south you go like toward qatar it get ungodly hot. the good thing about kuwait is there are no mortars or that type of bullshit to worry about. there is not a lot to do there but its really nice and i had rather be somewhere where its boring than take a chance on getting hurt. just my.02

I was in Kuwait for 3 months before Iraq and 3 months after. So I knew all that.
I was meaning more for how Arifjan is. Tried getting info from the Arifjan website, but its not very up to date.

I was in Arifjan for a couple months back in 03 or 04.. wasn't too bad then, they had some permanent barracks, a nice pool, Nathans hot dog stand, a little night club type area (ghett-o). All around not too bad, and I expect theyve made vast improvements over the past few years.
