Is it possible to get a ticket while test driving?

Any cops out there that can clarify this. I took out an s2000 about a week ago for a joyride at the dealership and I got it up to about 100 MPH on the freeway, the dealer in the passenger seat didn't mind and just said "powerful ain't it?" Now I was thinking, what would happen if I got pulled over, what interesting events might have occured?

Also, when you guys test drive fast cars, you punch it on the freeway as well correct? Or am I the only maniac that's doing this?

Not sure, but I believe you can still get a ticket since it counts against you and your license, not the car.

its the driver, not the car.

now if u WRECK a car, you may get a ticket but you may not be responsible for the wrecked car. that should be covered under dealership's insurance

Yes.

You do not have license to violate traffic laws because you are test driving a car.

Yes. One of the drivers next door to my work got a ticket for speeding. Its all about the driver, not the car.

I have been pulled over twice test driving an S2000 (in different states). The first time the guy did not want to give it to me but the locals were complaining about speeders (in my defense I made a wrong turn down what I thought was an open road but turned quickly residential over a hill).

The second time I was getting on an on-ramp and passed the cop who was sitting in the median of the hwy. I did not even wait for him to pull out all the way, I just pulled over to the side and waited. Guy walks up to the car. Salesman is feaking out. "You boys test driving this car?" "Yes sir" "Very well, carry on"

Test driving a car IS no excuse so if I had been ticketed I knew it was my own fault. By the way I did buy that S2k so the salesman was fine :)
