He probably understands that his kid is spoiled, but honestly, its a great feeling to give your kids things that you never dreamed of having. It's like re-living your youth, the way you wanted it to be, through your children. Sounds weird, but its true.

While I understand the line of thinking, there is one possible flaw. A man who has had to work hard for his material possessions knows all too well that his situation forced him to develop a damn good sense of responsibility, work ethic, discipline, etc etc. What is he trying to do, raise a Paris Hilton?
I went to college with a population of 98% rich kids and 2% merit scholars. I've met some big time rich spoiled brats, and met some rich but very responsible ones as well. It's all about parenting.
