The Village
I do not understand why people do not like this movie. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Here is why:
Society and people in America want a movie that does not provoke the mind and not have people think of the message interwoven inside of the movie. They want a movie that is given to them all out and no outside thinking to be done. For instance, how the hell did movies like the grudge, or Slither get higher ratings than the Village. And i am no Shamalyan cult lover. The village was a movie done to perfection with amazing music to go with the script and cinematography. Everything was picture perfect. Not only was that perfect, but as well was the story, message, and twist. Shamalyan chose to create a brilliant metaphor, displayed in the film's entirety, and throughout its pieces (the actors and atmosphere): control, through fear and the power of myth. That message was put into the movie perfectly. The twist at the end was no cheap shot. If you watch it again, there are plenty of clues that the village was not in the 18th century. Such as the secrets they kept saying about the boxes, and the counsel arguing about what they have done and oath, etc. The Village in my mind was better than signs and unbreakable because it was a story that was put into a movie and made you think and understand what society can be like today. PLEASE PEOPLE. GO SEE "LADY IN THE WATER" NEXT WEEK. M Night Shymalan needs your support. |

Bah, I love the village and I hate it when people make up the worst excuses not to like it. For example, my sister didnt like it because the monsters were fake...I mean is that really a reason not to like a movie? Not to mention that she was actually scared throught the whole movie until she found out that the monsters were just costumes. I love the twist at the end (wont spoil it for anyone) and thought that was the most original movie and idea that I have seen in a very long time. I love every movie this guy makes, from the story-telling to the actors and even the music, he does everything to the best of his ability and I really appreciate it.
I will be there opening night for "Lady in the water" and I'm dying to find out what twist and turns this movie will have! |
