Anyone Have A Gun??? Recommendations?

What would you recommend?? I’m getting my Concealed Weapons permit in about a month. (FL) I was looking at a Hi Point 9mm as a first gun. It’s cheap, reliable and it has a lifetime warranty. It’s very accurate and I’ve herd great things. But at the same time I may want something in the 350$$ Price range.

What do you think?

I think that a Handgun is a investment, dont cut yourself short on qaulity to meet a budget. Just hold off a little so that you can get what fits all of your needs. I cant really give you a good reccomendation because I have no Idea what you intentions are.

Were do you plan on carrying it on your body? Do you plan on carrying it at all times? are you left handed or right? How much experiance do you have maintaining a firearm? Do you have any formal training in handliing firearms? Do you have any knowledge of Ammunition?

These are some of the things that we will need to know to make a good reccomendation..Ok I'll be back later.

I plan to carry it on my back or possibly side, In pant Holster. I do plan to carry it as much as possible. Right handed. I have some, Been to the range a few times, 7-10 times, I know what it takes to clean them and maintain. I will be taking a course on firearm safety and such as required by florida law brfore applying for the permit. Not much knowledge on ammo except for what I should use at the range and what I should carry.. Hollow Point to carry for sure..

the Hi Point is a cheap gun but my Brother has the Hi Point .45 and hes shot at least 2000 rounds from it and it has yet to jam. They come with a lifetime warranty.

For concealed carry I would go with a revolver myself. If I went pistol it would be a high end pistol that I know is going to work.

i second the Springfield XD <-- VERY active forum

best thing to do, is visit a gun show and go around holding every pistol you can. find something you like in your hands. then go to a range and try to see if you can rent it or the other possibles. good luck with you search and be safe!

Times must have changed, cuz last I remember, hi point was a throw away gun. Crappy quality. Saturday night special is what they were called.

You hate the way they look? Well then, certainly sounds like your getting one for the right reason---Perhaps in FL going to the range is also some sort of cockmeasureing event, so I can see why your gun has to "look" good.

Alright, you fail. I hereby mandate that you may not carry, use, or even look at a weapon from this day forward. In fact, I'm considering revoking your breeding rights, too.

Can someone lock this thread up before he hurts himself?

Your 21!?!?!?! Wow---huge shocker based on your criteria for picking out something that could potentially kill somebody. The fact that you'd say a revolver is harder to cenceal let's me know that your not really serious about why you want the gun---your getting it simply because you can--and I guess that's fine, just don't try to sell the idea under the pretense that your concerned for your safety.

So go buy your life saving gun for the least amount of money--and make sure it's something that's gonna look bitchen when you lift your shirt up to show your homies. I can only hope in the end your one of the statistics that has their gun used against them--continue being an idiot.

Well you get your $200 pistol that "looks better" and I'll go with a piece that works.

Mugger 1: Boy I didn't even know he had that pistol on him, it really concealed well..
Mugger 2: Yea.. lucky for us that it jammed..
