CarMax

I'm looking for a new sales position and was offered full-time sales consultant at carmax.

I've been in sales for 6 years but never cars, just curious if anyone knows what the pay scale is like over there, bonus's etc...

I do have all the information on pay scale/bonuses/etc; I worked at the Roseville/Sac location as a Sales Consultant for over 2 years. Didn't you get that information when applying/during the interviews?

Now I just noticed that you're from NorCal...so you have to tell me who you interviewed with. Oh, and BTW $150 per car/$150 per warranty.

I don't go in for interview until next wed. - lady on the phone told me the interview process takes 2-3 hours, what do they do in that time period?

2-3 hours sounds about right; could take longer though. Basically you'll be asked to fill out a computer test that asks you random questions, then you will be interviewed by a sales manager. At this point if you are greenlit then you will be moved on to a second sales manager/possibly assistant store manager for a second interview. If you are greenlit again you will more then likely be hired. However, they could throw you a third interview by a sales manager/possibly assistant store manager. The third usually comes if one of the managers threw an orangelight, which meant they were unsure about you and may need another manager. If you are redlite at any time the interview is over...

Keep in mind I have not worked there in over a year so it may have changed slightly; however this process was used throughout the 2+ years I was there, and it was also being used before I got there. So more then likely it is still in effect.

Now you gotta tell me, which store?!?! Modesto? Sactown?

Damn....bit different then when I went in. I had 2 seperate online tests. 2 seperate manager interviews. And the final "interview" was the Assistant Store Manager telling me I had the job on the spot. They told you 7 days? That's odd. So I guess that would be today!? Heard anything?

Base as in base pay? $150 car $150 warranty. More if you're in Diractors Club and even more if in President's Club (Pres club is $200 car $200 warranty). Hard to get in and stay in though.

Swarmed by sales people eh? My store went by the 'ups' system. you should have only been greeted by 1 sales person...whoever was 'up' according to their number in the system.
