Credit Card Fraud!

So I get an email from my credit card company the other day saying they rejected a transaction based on what they thought was fraudulent use.

Well it was!

Somehow, my credit information was used in Santa Clara, CA, even though neither myself, nor my wife have ever been remotely close to there, let alone to a Lucky grocery store there.

Fortunately, my bank questioned the transaction and sent the email.

I got off the phone with the people at the Grocery store, and gave them the transaction information. Just thought I'd give people the heads up.

Somehow, that information can get out there (god knows how, no viruses or anything on my computer, and my firewall is locked down like Alcatraz in the 30's), and get used.

Fortunately, within a hour of the transaction, I had canceled the card to prevent further use, and will be going over my statements with a fine tooth comb for the next month or so.

Often times your information is stolen and resold to someone else. I've seen charges internationally for people who've never left the country. Glad to see your CC company was on top of it quickly!

Same thing happened to me. Someone tried to use mine in England. The bank was really good about it though. They shut down the card and refunded within like two days.

Thank goodness for your credit card company/bank. It's probably nothing you did. Sometimes a company you shop at gets hacked. Just be aware of what's on your statement and be sure you have these security checks setup with your bank. You should be good.
