My Dragons
hey all
for those of you who kno me, you'll kno i have a bunch of lizards and my bearded dragon female is pregnant...i made this thread to keep all of you who keep askin for updates on her nd stuff so u kno wen ill have the babies available...i dont need the thread locked so any and all sales talk has got to stay out of this thread and in an IMYahoo-projectsky04 AIM- SiRacerGrl well my girl Lizzy was mated with my male Magellan a while ago and i took her to the vet today for a checkup to make sure everything is going well for her and he said shes one of the healthiest beardies hes ever seen and since my husbandry couldnt get any better than it is, there shudnt b a problem like egg binding...she has about 20+ eggs he said nd from what he can tell they all look like they developed properly nd she shud be laying within 10 days but if not to contact him and hes going to give me something to help with the contractions since she is a little late on her lay date but he said this is very likely due to it being her 1st clutch (he used to breed all sorts of reptiles and beardies were his favorites so he has personal experience with this too)....hes some pictures of lizzy's egg filled belly ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() **UPDATE** We have eggs! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() heres the mommy: ![]() heres daddy:

the intial cost for the set up can be a lil expensive but u can cut corners just about everywhere...they r much easier to care for than water dragons...water dragons need a higher humidity and a more arboreal cage (taller)...bearded dragons basically need a min 40 gal breeder tank (u can make one with plexiglass, an old piece of furniture or jus buy a tank) they need crickets, roaches, or silkworms as a staple protein food and a bunch of different greens as a staple plant matter for them...u need calcium and multivitamin supplements and a heat light (i use floodlights) and a uvb TUBE light...everythin u can get cheap at reptile shows or online (its cheaper to buy online rather than in a store) and most of the stuff u can get used...the supplements will last you forever and they r only like $8 each...also their humidity levels only need to be about 30-40%

they r also a moderately small lizard compared to many lizards out there...there are 2 diff breeds of bearded dragons though...some get much larger and others dont...pogona vitticeps (common bearded dragon that you see in stores and stuff) is generally smaller ranging anywhere from 16-20 inches depending on sex and then the pogona barbata (eastern bearded dragon) extremely similar to pogona vitticeps but it has more defined spikes, less coloration, and gets much larger....they crossbreed the vitticeps and the barbata to create "german giants" then you have the vittikins but thats a whole diff pogona species
