if you are not a hard core gamer like some just get a 40gb ps3 or something. i have a 40gb ps3 and still have alot of room left. i know with the more and more games coming out i will have to swap out the hard drive for a bigger one.

so if you do not plan on playing alot of games just get a 40 gb

From the sound of your wants/needs, just get the 40 gig PS3.

For your needs, I'd get a PS3. I prefer the XBOX 360 as I'm more into online gaming, but that's not for everyone. From what I've heard from friends, GTA4 on the PS3 is better than the XBOX 360. This is mainly because you install it on to the hard drive ahead of time and it cuts the long loading times so you don't have to sit through them.

I'd go with a 40 GB if you're not a hardcore gamer. If you're hardcore, go for the bigger one.

I personally own both systems, and the record shop I own sells both, and my advice would be the Xbox 360 Pro system if you are planning to use it just for games. I play 360 games probably 10 times more often than PS3 games.

First off the 360 games library is significantly larger than the PS3 one, and with the exception of the minor difference in loading times for GTA4 and Devil May Cry 4 (after a nearly 20 minute install for DMC4), and slightly better looks on Burnout Paradise, virtually every other game I've played on both systems looks and plays better on the 360. The online reviews so far typically agree with that. Madden 08 on PS3 ran at 30 frames a second, on 360 it ran at 60. And the PS3 version was buggy as hell.

Then you have the list of exclusives games for 360, such as Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo 3 and so on. Also, remember that 360 will have two exclusive downloadable chapters for GTA4 that Sony will not have. If you think you're going to want Metal Gear Solid or HAZE or Gran Turismo (skip Prologue) or one of the PS3 exclusives later, then maybe the PS3 is the way to go. Or if you plan on using your console as a HD movie player, the PS3's BluRay is the only way to do that.

If you think the PS3 is the way to go, there will be a bundle available starting around June 12th with Metal Gear Solid 4 packed with an 80 GB system for 499.99, that would be the ticket.

There's 3 flavors, the Arcade System which has a 256MB memory card, the Pro System with a 20GB HD, and the Elite with the 120GB HD. I have had my Pro with 20 GB since launch (actually I'm on my 3rd console due to RROD but still have the original HD) and still have 9 GB left. I'd recommend the Pro unless you plan to put a ton of music or videos on your HD. That's plenty of space really.

Your using the term "memory" incorrecty. Memory is defined as RAM or flash memory as a temporary data storage until power is removed with the exception of non volatile memory such as compact flash cards. Hard drives are defined a permanent storage space which stores data even after power loss, which is what your asking.

In this case, if you don't feel you will be downloading/saving alot of demo's shows, music ect.... the 360 pro with the 20gb hard drive will suit your needs fine. You will kick yourself down the road if you buy the Acrade version which just comes with a 256meg memory card. It will save game saves, but forget doing downloads of any kind, and then you will have to pay a hefty price to purchase a HHD unit seperatly. Oh and you WILL get into the online playing/downloading, trust me on that one unless you don't pay for broadband.

get a 360 with a 20GB hdd and wireless controllers i forget which one that is.

since you dont really play online, you dont need to bother with a wireless card or paying for gold, so the 360 because cheaper in that regard.

the 360 also has a wider selection of games per genre, and the 360 also taps into some things that are usually seen only in quality on the PC, for example there are higher quality shooter games, the RTS supreme commander is coming in a month.
