I think a wheel is practically a necessity for this game. Trying to beat some of these races with the PS3 controller is just ridiculous, bordering on impossible! Try driving the Ford GT without significant driving aids and simple physics... I cannot keep it moving in a straight line.

Also one thing I've noticed is that on High Speed Ring there is a significant frame rate drop, which pisses me off considering the whole point of this game was 60 fps...

Hmm, I have a vizio 47" 1080p and didnt notice that but really was not looking for it. Next time on the high speed ring I'll have to pay more attention.

unfortunatley the PS3 gives priority to 1080i over 720p, so if your TV does both, and the game does both, the game will run in 1080i.

720p is superior to 1080i, especially for framerates, so i suggest you go into your PS3 display settings and tell your PS3 that your TV does not accept 1080i. this MAY help.

ive noticed tearing a few times which is not bad, and no framerate issues. i run it on both a 61" 1080P and my computer screen which is 21" 1080i, and niether time have i noticed framerate issues.

Yeah, I forced 720p in the PS3 settings, but it doens't help. It happens at one specific point: High Speed Ring, between the bridge and the tunnel, with 5 or so cars on the screen when one of them hits the dirt. As it kicks up the dirt cloud, everything goes to shite. Even if it doesn't kick up the cloud the game naturally slows in that spot. It doesn't happen in time trials or anything, just when racing. It was still enough at annoy me, though.

And yes, I've noticed a bit of tearing, too.

None of this really bothers me, I enjoy playing the game regardless. I just thought it was funny that after all the hullabaloo, the PS3 still has frame rate issues.

Now, what does piss me off is trying to get the ******* M3 around Eiger in 1:13.000. WTF!?! My best so far has been 1:16.043! I sat there for like 45 minutes and just cannot get the damn POS Bimmer to move any faster.

i know exactly which part your talking about, and ive never seen any framerate issues there. i just went into a race and did a few laps and looked for it, and still nothing.

also, im using the in car cam, which i imagine would be one of the more difficult ones to render, along with chase cam.

Yeah, I only ever saw it using the cockpit view. Other views aren't as bad.

i still think its lame how they had to please the fans by putting out something and they ended up with this prequel of a game instead of the full game...

its not like i had the desire to finish a 24hr race event anyways lol

I was yelling at the TV last night for just that reason...

I think I'm going to need a wheel to do this. You need a light car to have a chance, but they're so twitchy that the controller is almost impossible to use.

I'm also annoying that the computer can enter cars that you can't. You race against the tuned Elise (which always wins), but there's no way you can enter one in the 630 point races.

Yeah, seems the Elise /Tuned car would be great. I tried with the Ferrari F430 and the /Tuned Evo X and I just got spanked. A wheel probably would be much better but I hate buying expensive peripherals like that just for one game.

I've beat more of the S Class races now, but the 700 point races are tough. All I have to do is finish those and do the magic lap with the F40 and I'm good to go. Then it's the manufacturers races which I predict to be impossible.

I think I'm going to break down and get the racing wheel. I have a lot of old games for PS2 and 360 that I can trade in for credit, so that should help. It's hard to justify that expense when I'm trying to buy a house... :/

yeah ive got a DFP. ive only got 90,xxx and i need that F430 before i can advance. cant even go to the better races online yet. so im stuck playing bumper cars with nubs.

civsnake, wait like a month, the replacement for the DFP is coming, called the Driving Force GT. its basically the same thing with more buttons, but more importantly its got a dial for on the fly traction control and brake bias settings?? no use yet, but in the full game...
