teh GT5 physics are not going to match the physics of PC sims. PC sims are too hardcore. the purpose of GT games it to create a balance between realism and lightheartedness.
however, an area where GT excels from PC sims such as rFactor and GTR2 and etc, is the dynamics of how the car feels to drive, the dynamics of the track, and etc. they simple blow everyone else out of the water. its especially appearant when you drive cars you've actually driven in real life. You mean as an extension of there being more cars and classes or do you mean the dynamics are more elaborate in GT?
I haven't played GTR2 in a while, lost my license code. ![]() Been playing a bit of Live for Speed most recently. Last edited by Gonzo; 04-16-2008 at 06:32 PM. |

what i mean is, when you drive the cars in GTR2 for example, the cars feel rather stiff. sure slip angle, brake fade and etc is spot on, but when you navigate the corners you dont really feel how what the suspension is doing for example, you dont really feel what the engine is doing when as you accelerate.
while you dont *really feel* it in GT either, somehow they are able to tell your mind that it can. and the fantastic thing is, when you drive cars that you have in real life, its amazingly spot on. as you wind up the engines, as you go through the corkscew in laguna seca, and etc you get the sense that the cars behave differently based on what they are really like. when you drive different cars in real life, the way you approach a corner and the way you use the powerband is different in each car. and you can sense those differences so well in GT. Another playseat owner huh? I have the Playseat Evolution and the G25.
The seat kinda kills my back though. I need to work on making some pads or cushions or something. And yes we see your posts. You may have hit back instead of reload after you posted? Last edited by Gonzo; 04-17-2008 at 02:10 PM. |

I bought it on Wednesday and am enjoying it very much.
On graphics: More realistic than Forza 2, but I wish there was more anti-aliasing in effect... there are a lot of jaggies compared to Forza 2. On physics: Much better than Forza 2 from what I've seen so far; you really do get a better feel for the way the car is going to move. I have the physics set on "professional". I don't have a wheel yet, but I think I'll get one for this. |

After having some real seat time with this game, I'm not sure I can really recommend it. $40 is ALOT considering how stripped down it is. It really is a glorified demo. So what do you get for your $40? I'll break down the pros and cons as I see them:
Pros: 1. Graphics and Audio that pretty much blow everything else out of the water. Cars look stunning, and sound like the real thing. 2. A decent variety of vehicles. From the Suzuki Cappuccino and Integra DC5 to the Audi R8, new Skyline GT-R and Ferrari Formula 1. 3. The new Cockpit View is one of the coolest things to ever happen to the GT series. 4. A fair amount of events. Enough to keep you busy for a little while. 5. GT TV. The HD documentaries on on the GT-R were pretty neat. 6. Online play. 7. Much, MUCH improved AI and difficulty level. Well, the difficulty level could be either a Pro or a Con. I consider it a Pro, but some may find it frustrating. Some of the events are extremely difficult. Such as beating a certain lap time on the High Speed Ring in a Cappuccino. It will require 100% perfect driving and using every advantage you can find. Cons: 1. My biggest beef. You can;'t tune or buy parts for your cars. That's right, all cars are bought and driven stock. Once you beat the Class A races, it unlocks a "Tuning" option, which allows you to adjust various options like camber, toe, aerodynamics, lowering, power, etc. Until then, have fun. 2. With only 6 tracks, you're going to get REALLY sick of them. Especially the High Speed Ring. 3. Although there is a nice variety of vehicles, there just simply isn't all that many. Most manufacturers have 1-2 vehicles. 4. Long install time (yes, the game must be installed). And if you want to take advantage of some features like GT TV and Online Play, you have to update the game which is an exercise in patience to say the least. Even assuming you're lucky enough to not have the download crap out on you, it takes a stupidly long time (like 15-30 minutes). 5. Alot of the races are vehicle specific, and the "Tuned" versions of those cars don't count. So, for example, a race requires you to use the Lancer Evolution IX GSR. You must use the manufacturer version of the car. You can't use the GT Concept Lancer Evolution IX GSR /Tuned. Booo. All in all, it's a technological marvel, but for the price, it's really tough to justify. It's much more of a pure driving sim now than it ever was, which I like. But it's just so little for such a large price. If it was half the cost, i'd recommend it in a heartbeat. Right now, only the most die-hard of GT or racing sim fans should pick this one up.

i hope so too, but it probably wont. GT generally only includes JDM spec Hondas. it will most definetly have the CTR though. Last edited by e60.deluxe; 04-19-2008 at 05:14 AM. |

You DO have the ability to tune your cars after you complete the A, B, and C class races. This unlocks an additional S class races. Before you compete in the S class races you have the option of "quick tuning your cars". I just got to the S class race after saving up enough cash to buy an F430. Good game so far just seems really short even for a prologue. And also where the hell are the Toyotas at in the game, I'm really missing my Supras!
