The game itself starts off really slow, too many cut-scenes, but it starts picking up after the first few missions.

yea i have 360 and i tried to join at least 12 times, each time it was say disconnected going back to single player mode, finally i restarted my system for the hell of it and got on, its a pain but im sure everything will be worked out soon
