Haha, I know! Xbox360 has really been a disaster for microsoft and me! I never thought i would get the red ring because I hardly ever played my 360..... no one is safe. A PS3 may be in order!

So a supervisor was supposed to call me last Monday and no phone call so i left a message and still nothing. I left 4 more messages within the last 7 days and nobody called me back. I finally left a message saying call me ******* back what the **** and guess who just got a phone call ...me

But still no tracking number yet for the shipping label and box. Im "supposed" to get an email shortly with that information.

But at least i got somebody to call me back this time. Microsoft FTMFL!!!

Well I looked into the towel trick. The guy says he only gets 4 more days until the Red Ring comes on again after he does the "trick". I'm under waranty so I want to get a legit fix. Just sent the console out today after recieving the packing box from microsoft. When I went into the UPS store to ship it the UPS guy said "let me guess... xbox360" before I even put the box on the counter. I will let you guys know what my turn around time is for those who may experience this soon.

I used to work in a video games store and we had at least 3+ of these brought back per week with the ring of death. By the end of it all, whenever someone came in with a 360 we weren't even bothering to ask questions/test the units. M$ FTMFL! The reason for all this? Flawed design. Some genius at M$ decided that putting 3 processors and 2 graphics cards into a small box with a constantly spinning DVD drive was a fantastic idea! Obviously the thought of cooling never sprung up....

Thought about it but it might void my warranty. Still haven't received that "email" with the tracking number yet.

how does this void the warranty tho? i do this to fix my graphics card cuz i get no picture every now and then. just wrap it up with like 3 towels, turn it on, 15 min later, turn it off and let it cool off. then vwa-la! (sp) it works!

wow. ive never had a problem with my 360, nor have either of my four friends who have one. the only time ive ever experienced red was the 4p portion of the units ring was red, and this was after i turned it on and immediately opened the disc tray and switched games, then closed the tray. i got the error, turned it off, back on, voila!

as for a disaster for microsoft, i disagree. the box has been good, and it actually endears me to the big m when they extend the warranty to three years. at least they care about their gamers. at least on paper, anyways. the big his is hddvds failure, and that will push bluray. but to me, its the games that matter, and games alone.

for xbox, its halo series, fps titles in general, and racing titles. the box is built for that.

for ps3, i will be getting the 500 dollar mgs4 bundle with the dual shock 3 packed in. also, i understand it has a solid snake portrait printed on the top. TIGHT! also, any game by uedasan (ico, shadow of the colossus) will make me buy a system i didnt have before. cant wait!

wii. excite truck, mario galaxy, prime corruption, minigames, general browsing, zelda, MARIO KART!

also, anyone with both a 360 and a ps3, know that m$ paid i think 50 million dollars to rockstar for something like 33 percent more content for gta4. more cars, music, weapons, missions, from what i understand. dont just get it for ps3 because of playstations past with the series. i think the 360 edition will be superior based on news so far.

Only works for a couple turn ons, doesnt solve the problem. Ive had the ring once and got it repaired, havnt had it since. And ive had the same 360 since the day the 360 was released

One RROD on a modded 360. Screwed. No fix in 2005 and because it was modded it could not be sent back obviously.

One RROD on an unmodified 360 in 06 which was returned and has been working since.

Two dead dvd drives. One was a modded 06 and the other was a modded 07

Currently one of my modded 07 drives is working but just barely. When it dies I will need to mod my stock one in order to play all my 100+ burnt games lol.
