PS3 VS Xbox360

I had a 360 since launch and sold it about 6 months ago, i dint like it that much, i purchase my PS3 at the time i sold the 360..

And for the people here that do not know, GTA4 will be in HD only for the PS3, because the 360 can't do it.

Games that will come out next year that will kill the 360 IMOP.

-Metal Gearl solid 4
-Final Fantasy
-Socom Confrontation and Socom 4(Best online game ever on the PS2)
-Grand Tursimo 5
-Killzone 2

And the list goes on.. Dont forget the PS3 lets you surf the web, i love getting on youtube and watching the videos on my 42 inch HDTV

Am on it right now by the way.

If you have one and surft the web with it, buy the logitech wireless keyboard it is only $80 bucks and it has a build in touch pad that you can use as a mouse

Just wanted to point out that Bluray is not DVD, in fact Bluray and DVD are on opposite sides. Bluray and HDDVD are competing formats in the high-def industry, but thats a whole other topic. And wow, I'm not a clown.

i have a 360 and hate it. It always freezes and says cannot read disk. What a POS. i quit playing it and wanna sell it and then maybe get a PS3. I will never buy a xbox product again. I had the first 2 playstations and each one lasted for atleast 3 years and when i traded them in neither one had a problem. Gran Turismo 5 is gonna kick ass and make me wanna buy one. Plus online play is free for the PS3. Fukk Microsoft

You can log on to xbox live for free also, you just have to pay for the gold membership if you want the perks that go along with it.

This is true. Playstation has reportedly been screwing up left and right, and it all starts with blu-ray. It's just too difficult to exploit the possibilities of blu-ray when in comparison to companies writing the kinds of games that they've been writing for years with the only difference being better graphics. Now that programmers have established a way to store massive amounts of memory on hd-dvd's all the benifits of blu-ray are dying.

Sorry, I'm going to have to disagree with you there too. I still now, as I have since it was announced, think that the ps3 will flop. I think that sony put all their faith in their fans paying a ridiculous amount of money for something just because it was different and was called a playstation. If the PS3 was $100 cheaper than a 360 I still would choose the 360 because it is a better system (imo) in every way.

Sony has been "putting all their eggs in one basket" since the idea of the ps3 came to light. Now they're abandoning all their exclusives because they think that they can create new exclusives that are better games in every way, but it's just not going to happen. GTA was a huge selling point for a lot of people just because it was such an awesome game and it was only on ps2. Then Rockstar struck a deal with Sony that said that they could release it to xbox after X units had been sold for Sony. Now Sony is trying to be cheap about it and they've completely lost it.

BluRay just isn't and won't live up to all the hype. I know very few people with tv's that exploit the 1080p capabilities of the ps3, and I know even fewer people that are willing to pay more money for a system that's only worth it after buying a new tv for $2k+. It really doesn't help that the game selection is a joke.. But how could it be anything but a joke when they've walked away from everything but Metal Gear and GT?
I thought that Sony was being smart when they dropped the price of the 40 gig model, and so did everyone else. We all thought that they had finally opened their eyes and started to give the consumers what they want.. just to find out that they were just trying to get rid of them because they weren't making anymore and they wanted to hurry up and release an updated model. Weak. Also, FWIW, every game that I've played on the ps3 looked just as good (or in maddens case, half as good) as it did on 360. I'm sure that will all change when Gran Turismo comes out because.. c'mon.. it's gran turismo. But no matter how great it looks they've already thrown that punch way too late because Forza 2 is out/has been out and it's already a hit (for good reasons).

I'm not an xbox fanboy by any means, but the ps3 is just a failed execution of a really great idea in my eyes.

Although it's barely in english, you have a decent argument.. Well, except for a few things.
1) Microsoft has already raked in millions from the sales of the 360, but instead of pocketing it they decided that the best thing that they could do would be to extend an arm out to the people with broken 360's and hook them up with free fixes and refund everyone that actually had to pay to get it fixed.

2) I still have never played halo3, I'm just sort of a techie (I guess, I use that term very loosely) and the downfalls of the ps3 outweigh the advantages. BTW, I've owned 2 ps3's.

3) I love it when Playstation fans use the "ring of death" argument against xbox owners.. With all of the stuff that has happened... all the rings of death.. the Sony Playstation 2 is the most unsuccessful launch in console history because of such a high rate of hardware failure. Did sony fix them for free? Nope. Did they refund the people that had to pay to have them fixed? Nope. My launch console lasted me until I installed the FM2 update, and if I had never installed that update I have no doubt that it would still be playing perfectly today. The fm2 update was like a 360 killer, it overworked the graphics processor and fried them. But at least it gets fixed for free. :)

Agreed. I don't understand what all the fuss is about backwards-compatability. I've never even seen someone play a ps1 game on a ps2, much less a ps1 game on a ps3. That kind of defeats the purpose IMO.

Yep, and BluRay has already lost. Why? Pr0n has already signed up to only be produced in hd-dvd format and that guarantees it will stay. That being said two options never exist for long... Especially since hd-dvd will soon be able to match blu-ray output (if the progress continues at the current rate).

And the PS3 might not be selling as good as the 360 right now because of the fact that is has no killer games out for it now, but just wait one more year and you will see.

Graphics are even now on both consoles and the 360 has been out for 2 years now and the PS3 not even one, what does that tell you?

You say that in oder to enjoy the PS3 you have to have a HDTV with 1080p and that is not the case, i am using mine on 780p and looks super clean.

Also HDTV are cheap now and most people have them.

Also you have to mention the fact that Sony build the PS3 so that it had the technology on it for the next few years, just like the PS2(launch in 2001 and they still make games for it).

I agree with firmhonda. Nice write up. I chose the 360 over the PS3 because every game on the PS3 that I liked, it came on the 360 with online mode. The PS3 online mode is just crap. I am very satisfied with my purchase of the xbox 360. The final fantasy games nowadays are not good enough to sway me towards a PS3. My opinion is 360>PS3. I'd pick the Wii over the PS3 too but thats another story.

GTA4 is a playstation franchise. Why isn't Forza2 out in HD for ps3? Same difference.

Sony backed out on all the additional content and are trying to cover lost ground by making a game like that HD. Will the graphics still be overhauled on the 360? Of course.. I personally haven't read anything relating to this whole development because I've been pretty out of the loop for the past few weeks. Do you care to share a link?

Fair enough. I honestly doubt it will happen since most of the companies are switching to microsoft because microsoft is willing to spend money to pay them. Sony is still lagging in sales (extreme understatement) so they won't invest for all the "bells and whistles" if you will.. That's why microsoft is getting the jump on everything now.

That's a backwards argument.. It means that Microsoft completed the task first and more efficiently.. It means that Playstation made a mistake when they chose a technology that was limited by the production of a single plant in the world. Bluray lenses were (and might still be) made only in one place in the world which couldn't keep up with the demand that sony had. That's why the release date was pushed back so many times. Matter of fact, does anyone remember when the ps3 was first announced? It was originally rumored to be released around the same time as the 360. Who made it to that deadline.

You misunderstood me. I wasn't saying that it had to be played in 1080p, I said to use it to its full potential it would have to be played in 1080p.. At 720p you're at the same resolution as the cheaper competitor with more games and free warranty.

Some HD tv's are, but 1080p is still the highest priced and that's what you'll need to put the ps3 to use to an extent that makes it better than a 360.

The reason that games are still being made for the ps2 isn't because the technology is still current, it's because there are no games to sell for the ps3. Original xbox games were still being made too until the selection of games got to a point that they could cover the costs of their gaming division based off of the 360 alone.
Which, if you wanted to use the argument that the ps2's technology is still current then you would definitely have to say that the original xbox's technology is still current. It had better graphics, smoother gameplay (with most games), and faster load times than a ps2.. That's what made me go from being a playstation fanboi (which I had been since the ps1 came out) to just enjoying playing video games and getting the best bang for my buck, which I personally feel comes out of the 360 hands down.

I will say this as of now the 360 wins in terms of games out for it, but we will see what happens next year only time will tell, and so far the game line up is looking better for the PS3.

I've had a 360 for almost 2 years now, and have never once had any problems with it. only loved it! I got a ps3 when they first came out...$600 wasted. The only good thing about the system is blu-ray...other than that it isnt worth the money even if they did mark it down. 360 all the way!
