Is it just me,or do new games not have the same feel as the PS1 and Nintendo 64?

Of course I was 18 or 19 when they came out,but it seems that the games for the new systems don't have whatever it was that the 64 and PS had over the previous systems.Everything just seems like prettier graphics these days.

I agree... so much is directed to the graphics and not the actual game play. N64 was the shiz!

The funny thing is that is supposedly why sony went with bluray for the ps3.. it hold more memory so they could go with awesome graphics as well as intricate gameplay, which so far they have failed. Hopefully someone will pick up on this new hd-dvd technology that is rumored to be able to burn almost as much information onto an hd dvd (and therefor xbox 360 games) as a bluray. It still won't have the 1080p resolution, but your regular gamer doesn't have the $3k-$4k to drop on a tv just so games look prettier either so it's pretty much a lost arguement imo.
I hope that they will start to make better games with the advancements that they have now. It seems that games are rated on graphics (obviously, look at the direction consoles have gone) instead of gameplay now which the wii is helping to shift back in the right direction.

Me, I just want ID to remake doom64 with better graphics and some more levels for the 360. I think that doom64 is one of the greatest games ever made and the last doom that came out for xbox was terrible compared to it.

Doom64 = 70's hemi
Doom3 = 00's hemi

I have to admit that the Sega Genesis was my favorite console ever. When I was a kid I would play that thing for hours on end. I'm not a gamer now so I don't know much about the other systems but thats the one that always kept me entertained.

Atari 2600 FTW! (Just kidding!!!)

Games have been stagnate like this for a while just with better grahics. I'm finding movie based video games (except for a FEW Star Wars and Spiderman games) LAME.

i wonder about games nowadays too. it seems that maybe it was because when i was younger i enjoyed playing them much more. of course, i have to admit that i just played guitar hero 2 for the first time last week, and it was a lot of fun.

most games are just interactive movies, mediocre movies at that

EDIT: I'd have to say I'm liking my Wii though, Nintendo's gone the gameplay route instead of battling it out with sony/microsoft for high end graphics

Favorite sega game of all time - Flicky
That was the cheesiest game ever, but you could literally play it for hours on end and not get bored. How could a game with 18 second levels get boring?!??

Not a 2600, but I stumbled across this not too long ago.

I wonder what the deal with the Wii is?I've only seen a handfull on the shelves since they came out.That means they are either selling real fast,or they are not making many of them.Usually a new system comes out and its hard to get for a few months,then the shelves are saturated with them.But the Wii has been out for a year or more,and when I see one its only ONE on the shelf,and its gone the next day.

I don't know man, they've been scarce in the stores here too. Maybe Nintendo's intentionally creating a shortage

Games like Zelda and Trauma Center are great imho, waiting on super smash bros in december! One of the best party games created
