Totally overhyped series. It's an ok game. The multiplayer blows. I like WWII shooters better. I'd rather play COD multiplayer anyday. Not a big fan of bug hunts.

GOW single player was go IMO. Multiplayer sucked.

God of War was first. Gears of War is not the true "GOW" acronym holder (haha).

Anyone have this problem - discs were not secure inside the case... Result: Scratches to hell!

yep... i don't have halo 3 yet, but i've been keeping up on all the issues with it. The discs in the limited editition have been coming loose from the center hub in the case.

Microsoft is offering to replace it for free

Halo 3 Limited Edition (Metal Box)

Heres the thread, IGN has the link for the PDF file to replace the disc. It happened with both of the discs I exchanged and returned. It plays fine, but I'm still going to mail mine back before the end of the year.

So far, after about a week of playing H3, Gears is still more entertaining than any of the Halo games so far. Halo has felt like every other mediocre PC FPS I've played in the last 10 years. It's neat because of the matchmaking and you don't have to have a $2k PC to get good graphics and sound.

Gears did some really innovative things with its cover system that hadn't been done before. I was expecting revolutionary things from H3 instead of evolutionary. H3 is fun and entertaining but it's not the greatest.

Oh well, Orange Box will be out soon so no worries.

You are a gamer, right?

My two favorite parts about Gears had to be the really neat storyline and the wonderful soundtrack!

I had high hopes for Gears, but I dunno why I expected more from the makers of the Unreal series than a pretty looking fairly fun fps with nothing else going for it.

Have you played Rainbow Six: Vegas? The cover system is SO much better in that game. There's no bullshit toggling in & out of cover & getting caught on walls. Simply hold the left trigger as long as you want to be behind an object. It's so incredibly intuitive & honestly begs the question "Why wasn't this done before?"

Yup, Rainbow six is better, I love how realistic it is and the cover system is the best of all games, its so easy to use.

I personally don't know why gears is being talked about in the same thread as Halo 3. I know some of you like gears, but say what you want it doesn't have the following, longevity, gameplay, or the revenue that the halo series has. To me the two games don't even come close to comparing....at all.

I bought gears over the weekend, and IMO, it's much more fun to play than Halo 3 (single/split campaign that is). I love the over-the-shoulder 3rd person view, and its fast paced and a beautiful looking game. It's one of those tense games that keeps you on the edge of your seat (like F.E.A.R... the PC version at least). I really hope they make more games like these rather than the generic FPS bs they spit out usually.

Halo 3 just doesn't do that kinda stuff for me. The only thing I'd give Halo 3 an edge on over gears is multiplayer. Single player, Gears has been much more exciting than the little I've played of Halo 3. Some of the controls are annoying on gears as well, but any shooter game with a controller is still foreign to me.

The reason why Halo is so great is because it brings the console shooter action close if not even with the PC shooters and it has all those things that will keep you coming back for more.

It's fun to play PC games with friends on internet, but I think having friends over and play on the same TV plus the chance to see how they react when they get totally destroyed is priceless.

I bet this title is going to be played for years, until maybe xbox720 and ps4 comes outs, and the TV goes UHD (ultra high defination, I made that up, hehe).
sorry dude, but the reason you need so many buttons is because you move around ALOT and have alot of stuff to do, because people can aim better.

people cant aim for shit on a controller and you have more time to do everything.

not only do you do more at one time on a PC FPS, but you do things faster so you keep your extra fingers held on keys.

play a PC FPS and youll understand. you ahve things to do like
-holding a walk button so that people dont hear you coming
-hold croutch so your unseen-
-keep turing a 180 and look for people coming from behind while still moving in the same direction (ie dont let your self move back because you are facing back)
-and keep switching between weapons for example a scoped rifle and pistol for sniping/close combat.

ive seen people play Halo and i hardly ever see them doing too many things at one time.

everything is so simplified for you.

its not just the pace, its everything.

the "difficult" part of a console FPS is the lousy input device. and input device should *NEVER* be the cause of why a game is difficult, it shold be the game itself.

*Edit* by the way, i just thought of these things.
with a PC, you are only able to use 2 hands with 5 fingers on the keyboard hand, and 3 fingers on the mouse hand (and this is only if you have a mouse with a thumb button, otherwise 2) for a total of 8.
on a console its 6 as you stated earlier.
HOWEVER, on a PC keyboard you need 3 fingers just to move. one resting on W, one resting on A, another resting on D, and the D finger moving to S when needed. with a console you just use the thumb on the analog stick.
thats a 2 finger advantage for the Console, so its pretty much even.
