Xbox 360 owners rejoice (ring of death? look here) - Page 2

Yeah, what sucks is the fact that mine broke the day that I got Forza 2. There was no way in hell I was about to wait to play it, so I started with a friends 360. Now, we have hella money and a ridiculous amount of cars all saved on his 360 so my game stays at his house. I thought about taking my game back, but I'd die without my fully built and boosted type r, or my all motor mugen integra. Those 2 cars just handle like they're on rails and it makes every damn track so fun to drive.

So, I've had my refurb unit for about a 1 1/2 - 2 months and it just broke about an hour ago.

My launch console lasted until I did the "Forza 2 death update" without a single problem.. I sent it off under warranty, got a refurb back, and now my damn refurb is broke.

The thing that really pisses me off.. I just bought a few games and was planning on playing them this weekend..

Hitman: Blood Money
Tiger Woods 07
NBA Live 07
Ninety-Nine Nights
Import Tuner Challenge
Phantasy Star Universe (it was recommended).

I was also planning on buying a couple of other games this weekend so I'd be stocked up for a good amount of time (I got a sweet temporary hookup on limited games so I've been taking advantage of it).

I swear to holy hell this is straight b/s. I've been a fan of xbox for a while, but this is getting on my last nerve.

Oh, and don't even bother telling me to get a ps3.. I don't want one at all.

I was actually thinking about getting a 360 until I heard about this ring of death thing, might get one now...

Don't get me wrong, it's a kickass system with some really cool games to play.. I just got a bad apple as a replacement for my good console and that rubbed me the wrong way because I had really just start playing it like I had my last console.
I would still buy it over a wii or ps3 any day of the week simply because I'm still not convinced that ps3 is even going to last & the wii is cool and all.. but can you picture yourself getting home from work and being tired as hell and just wanting to play your game and having to stand up and keep moving around for an hour just to play a level?
Not me.

BTW, they told me 3-4 weeks to fix (under warranty yet again) and he said he wasn't sure if they would just replace it with another refurb unit or if they would just fix the one that I send in..

My old roommate had a PS3 and I had the 360...PS3 doesnt impress me. As long as xbox keeps replacing (Im on my 2nd console ATM...knock on wood) I will be content. I got a computer with CSS and BF2 to keep my company...

...only thing better would be some sex more frequently.

I had a 360 in the past that i sold to buy my PS3 and now some dude at work is selling me a 360 with the HDD for only 75 bucks lol(only thing is that it does not work it hads the red lights) am thinking of buying it and calling microsoft to get it fix for free. and the re sell it.

I just got an Elite on September first and have been playin it non stop everyday...

I picked up the in store warranty at Gamestop for an additional $60 bucks, so if its breaks I just take it in and it gets replaced for free no questioned asked. That way I don't have to wait a month just to get a "refurbished" console...

And after the new 360s hit the market with the new chipsets (the Falcons), I'm going to leave it on 24/7 UNTIL it finally breaks. Then I get to go in, replace my Elite for a brand new Elite with the better chipset, and never have to worry about breaking a unit :)

my 360 finally gave in to the 3RL.. since my unit is modded, hence out of warranty, i had someone repair it for around US$50 here's what he added:

3x 12v fans, 12v oem gpu fan mod, fan shroud divider and gap sealing, fan header on motherboard w/ 6mos warranty, money back guarantee

he's done 48hr stress testing on my 360 and it runs perfectly! im picking it up on friday!

I love my 360, but man...Microsoft needs to step up their game. My system just broke down last week and I have about 4 games that are still in the wrapper I want to play. Also with Halo 3 coming out soon! I better get it back soon. =[
