I picked up 2 ps3's on release and sold them both within a month.. one on ebay and one to a pawn shop (no joking). I think sony taking the playstation towards bluray was a really good idea in theory, but when it comes down to it it's just another beta vs. vhs war. Vhs won the first war, as will hd-dvd win this one. If I'm wrong Playstation 3 will be the king of blu ray, but I'm pretty sure this will just go down as another overpriced, overhyped system that will tank in the end (neo geo anyone?). I've been so happy with my xbox 360 it's rediculous.. good games, good gameplay, and now that sony is losing the only edge that it had over xbox (game selection) it's just going to end up another one of the many things that microsoft is the king of. Just my .02 Quote:

Why does everyone think that all the exclusives are going away? So far the OP has only said the GTA series, which hasn't been an exclusive anyways and Devil May Cry, although a good game 1-3 were never anything to write home about. God of War is still a playstation exclusive, although 2 isn't on the PS3 you still need a PS2 or PS3 to play it. And I have no doubt that they will take the GoW series to PS3 to really make an amazing game. Motorstorm is strictly a PS exclusive, as well as Metal Gear Solid which will see it's release on the PS before the others. Not to mention Gran Turismo, I had a 360, PGR looked like a cartoon as did the Forza demo. Don't forget about Resident Evil.
What's the 360 got now? Gears of War and Halo? Sure that's fun for everyone who just likes to run around shooting each other. There's no real good action games that are exclusive to the 360. It's so funny because everyone rags on the PS3 even though it's only been out for 4 months. I had my 360 from Winter to late Spring of 2006 and the game selection for it then was a limited as the PS3's will be until probably the winter time. Which is exactly why I sold the 360 because it just sat around collecting dust. Except now I get to watch Blu Ray DVDs until new games come out. Instead of an hd-dvd outboard accessory that brings the 360 to the same cost as the PS3 and can't even output in 1080p. ![]() |

![]() I have been HIGHLY dissappointed with PS3's Blu-Ray DVD video quality on a 71" 1080p TV. Nothing really special about it. Still get a LOT of noise in black/dark areas of movies. I believe it to be the movies and not the system........but still, until Blu Ray movies cost the same or less than normal DVD's, I won't be buying any. I don't own either system, although if I was going to get one, PS3 IMO is a complete waste of money. |

not to sound like a fanboi or anything.. but gears of war is a hella fun action game. Lost Planet is a fun game too.. and as of right now it's an xbox360 exclusive. Of the games that you mentioned, the only one I will miss is Metal Gear Solid..
Don't get me wrong, ps3 will be good for what it will have. My thing is blu ray is overpriced and it will be a failed attempt for sony to monopolize the gaming market with new technology. I still think it's funny that the wii doesn't compare to either system in any way (graphic wise), and yet it has already surpassed sales of xbox 360 and ps3 combined.. kind of makes you think about how microsoft and sony may be looking in the wrong direction. The Wii is fun to play (or so I've been told =P), and that should be the first priority for every game and gaming platform. I think the makers of the 360 and the ps3 should have recognized that a little bit more, rather than trying to just have the highest graphics and blah blah blah.. BTW, ps3's graphics really isn't that much better than 360's.. 1080i vs 1080p is like rsx-s vs. si.. and if you put a high-def tv as the driver of both you'd see that there isn't a tv out (to my knowledge) that will really show the differences in resolution.. Tie game. |

360 is not able to output in 1080p, it has no HDMI support. There are rumors of a new black 360 to come out with a 120gb HDD and HDMI support for $480. Putting the new 360 and the 20gb PS3 at about the same price. With the only difference of a bigger HD on the 360 version and Blu-Ray on the PS3.
It's not so much now that 1080p and HDMI support come in to play. But TV's are evolving so much so fast and that little lack of technology could mean a big difference in the quality of how games are displayed in a couple years. Microsoft will be screwing over a lot of 360 owners by completely ignoring HDMI or making them spend $480 to get a new 360 that has the capability. |

i downloaded the gran turismo HD on 1080p for playstation 3 and its a groundbreaking performance in graphics. i dont even know how to explain it, the graphics are just totally insane. the road looks like a real road. 360 deff needs to be able to put out 1080p or else...

I played Forza on the original Xbox and I saw the demo of the new one for 360. It's not a horrible game, it's probably the closest to GT that's out there. Not a big fan of xbox and 360's graphics in terms of racing games though. They tend to look cartoony.

i think these two pics says it best: ![]() ![]() No offense, but take a look some minor details like the headlights and grill to name a few and compare this with GTHD (which is gona be similar graphically to GT5, if not GT5 will look better... ![]() i think we know the verdict theres no doubt about it GT always knows how to get down to the details Last edited by Dark.GEAR; 03-22-2007 at 12:10 AM. |

..........cept for the fact that Forza is WAY MORE fun to play.........I had a LOT more fun playing Forza probably because of #1
1 - Collision detection & damage models. I'm still at a loss why the GT series hasn't implemented damage models? Supposed to be soooooo realistic, but if you hit something, oh......that's ok. I used to get a really fast car in GT4 and tape down the gas pedal for a couple of the endurance races.......let the walls guide the car around the track. Come back 2+ hours later and guess what? You've won the race. <- VERY realistic. Forza had it, GT didn't. 2 - Car customization. Hey, I don't need to go crazy with my car like in the Need for Speed series, but I do like the fact that I can add carbon fibre panels and such in Forza. My favourite car is a bright orange 1995 Eagle Talon AWD with a carbon fibre hood. I love that car ![]() Don't get me wrong, I was VERY impressed with the backgrounds on GT: HD..........but from my playtime with it, I noticed that collision detection was poor, and the backgrounds weren't NEARLY as impressive when you drove slow (check the crowd out when you drive up to them, pathetic). Still the GT: HD demo is the best piece of software on the PS3..........PS3 is a great way to waste your money if you like playing a racing demo with one track ![]() Last edited by Avenger; 03-22-2007 at 01:26 AM. |

That picture of GT still doesn't do it justice. The effects and the details on the road and in the grass if you slow down to a stop are incredible. Sure the people don't look all that great, but those are minor details and when driving past them at 100mph they look pretty good. I do recall many of the same things that lacked some detail at slower speeds in PGR as well. It's universal, no game is going to spend all that time on something you arn't going to see unless you make the effort to do so. |
