Mine was in the first batch. It's frozen once or twice but I literally haven't had a problem with it in about 9 months, and even then all the games have an autosave feature so I wasn't too concerned. I do keep it out in the open in plenty of fresh air and open airspace. I love it. Gears of War makes it all ok. And Forza when it comes out.

Well My Xbox died tonight. I guess it got jealous of me playing Resistance
j/k For the record I've had it a little less than a year. It started freezing with little lines running up and down the screen. Tried resetting it a few times and I couldn't even get it to the dashboard part or the 360 logo. After a few more times it won't even turn on now. I just get some flashing red lights. It's laying horizontally and the lights that light up in that order are 1,3,4 (the top left one and both on the bottom). I've been doing some searches for "ring of death" but can't find any info. Someone had posted what the different sequences of the red lights mean, but I can't find them. Any help would be appreciated. Kind of glad I didn't pick up Lost Planet today or I would have been really pissed. Nothing like getting home all excited to play and something like this happens. I guess it's back to Zelda for now until I get some replies or advice. |

I bought my 360 the day it came out, (i actually got it the day before but I can't say why) and I haven't had one single problem with it. I used to take it everywhere with me to play at work and even at the local gamestop so I could pick out games and play them at the store, beat them, and give them back. lol. I've dropped it a bunch of times, spilt a CapriSun on it, and let it fly around my trunk more times than I can count and STILL haven't had any problems.

Anyone have thoughts as to why the 360 was nearly impossible to find until approximately four-ish months after its release and the PS3 (the 60GB version nonetheless) is readily available everywhere a mere TWO MONTHS after its release? Anyone? I've got my thoughts, I'm just trying to spark a bit of conversation.

PS3 isnt really overpriced once you think about it. its a next gen game console which is backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2 games. it has slots for memory cards/sticks and has a hard drive. you can go online with it and from what i understand sony online is pretty good. on top of that it has a blue ray disc drive. looking through some flyers, blue ray disc drives for a computer cost about the same as a PS3. i'll buy one in a year or two. i'll trade up my PS2 but keep the games as i'll still be able to play them.

the reason why they are available everywhere right now is the wii. they both launched within in two days of one another. parents/people see the wii is only $250 and the ps3 is $500 and $600, of course they are going to buy the wii. the reason why it was so hard to find a 360 is because it was the only next gen console out at the time and everyone wanted it. now if the ps3 or the wii launched at the same time as the 360 then we would have a diffrent story.
Now as for the the ps3 being over priced i think most people who know the diffrences between the consoles would disagree. Sure the cheapest ps3 is 500, but it comes with a 20gb hard drive and a blu ray player and hdmi compatability. Now take the $400 premium 360 you get a 20gb hard drive and component cables. You can add a hd-dvd drive to your 360 for $200 more, so now your at 600. which would put you on the same price level as the 60gb ps3, which would give you the bonus of built in wi-fi and pc card readers. To say that any of the consoles are overpriced i think is crazy. To say the PS3 is overpriced, not profitable, not fun, garbage... is stupid. I am going to guess that you don't have ps3, therefore you can't really have a vaild opinion. I bet you saw the price tag, determined it was too much money and decided the console was crap. Neither the 360 or the ps3 are turning a profit, only the wii is making a profit on each console sold. As for the fun factor, the wii may seem like it is the coolest, but that will wear off quick. I have all three systems and I can tell you right now once the wow factor of the wii-mote wears off you will get really bored with the system real quick. I play my 360 more than anything right now. The ps3 is awesome too it just does not have the software titles out yet. This is just my opinion on this stuff. |

So both consoles are good, exept you have to pay to play online for a 360 while the PS3 is cheap and lag free,blue-ray,HDMi,(my friend has one and is nice).. Xbox live gamertag:Mafia Pride add me guys from 8thgencivic |

I'm currently playing Zelda, and past that no other games really hold your interest for long. PS3 Resistance is awesome, but it needs more games. |

Hmm, good point about the Wii... The PS3 is good for the price. If you throw in the HDDVD player and wireless network adapter for the 360 (both of which are built into the 60GB version of the PS3.. well, Blu Ray, nonetheless) and the price goes up to $700. However, I think it was a great move by Microsoft to give the buyer the option to have these. Personally, I probably won't buy an HD-type DVD player until this Neo-VHS/Beta war is over... or at least until a clear "winner" can be determined. Also, most of the people that I know personally actually don't play online (which surprises me just a bit). I love playing online, but I hard-wire my 360 to my router, saving me $100 (for now). A good friend of mine has a PS3 and we play Resistance often on his 40" Sony Bravia LCD which looks amazing, but I think right now the 360 looks better on my 19" LCD computer monitor. Sure, it makes it impossible to play any co-op games, but it sure beats playing it on my 10-year-old 27" Samsung. An argument could be made about the launch line-up of games, which by-and-large will be rather lackluster on any new system, but didn't Sony take an extra year to develop the system? Perhaps the studio developers didn't get that extra year for games. Anyway, I would still like to buy a PS3, but prolly not for another 2 years or so, when the prices start to drop. Until then, I imagine I'll stay busy with Unreal Tournament 3/2007, Halo 3, and Crackdown.
Edit: Sorry about the repost of the pricing comment. I must have missed it in the previous post. |
