Yep. My older son is just getting to the point where he is able to play a few games on my ancient PS1. I thought it might be fun for some Dada/Son gaming and pick up two.

I was considering it for games such as GTA, I didn't really like the 9 month wait for San Andreas... but now that the next GTA will be released simultaneously on the 360 and PS3, it's a non-issue. Personally, I think $599 USD for a non-crippled version of the platform without a game is absolutely ludicrous. You could opt for the $499 version, but you're missing out on the HDMI output, and therefore, may not be able to get true HD resolution output - in which case, what is the advantage of the PS3 over PS2?
I'll stick with my 360, there's some awesome stuff coming (Forza 2, Halo 3, GTA 4), some great existing games (Call of Duty 2, MotoGP 06) and I'll check the Nintendo Wii when it comes out. Sounds like Nintendo have something really unique in the works.

I also find the price to be outrageous, on a non-proven technology (thus far).
The only reason I'm planning on getting one is because of my obsession with RPGs, especially Final Fantasy.

I'll be waiting in line to get 2 on the night it comes out. I'm personally not a playstation fan in any sort of way but I do like the money that can be made via ebay.
I should've done that with my 360 the night it came out.. but I love xbox and there was no way I could have passed that up. I would say that the only downside to the entire buy/sell thing would be that there is only a guarantee that you will get your money back.. Which when you think about it is another good reason to scalp one off the night they come out =D

As sexy as it will be, I can't see how I can justify paying nearly $600 for a video game console just to play the next versions of Gran Turismo and Grand Theft Auto. I know there'll be other games to play, but those two series are my faves and really the only ones I ever play.

Agreed. Except I don't have a 360, and I'll never buy a first gen machine again. I'll wait til year 2 for the PS3. Too many bugs for a first year machine at $600 when I don't have an HD tv. |

I will not be getting a PS3 at launch. I love my 360 and the PS3 games I have seen so far have not shown any real improvement over the 360 in terms of graphics. Compare Gears of War to any game the PS3 has shown so far. Where is the extra power? And $600? Give me a break. I don't need Blue Ray yet. What happens if it loses to HD-DVD? That means the PS3 may sink with the technology. Besides, Microsoft says they will be lowering prices on the 360 at the PS3 launch (or so I've heard) by $100 for each version. Think of it this way. You can buy a 360 premium and a Wii for less than a PS3 w/ the 60GB HD if MS drops their prices. Besides, all you really need is Halo 3, right? ![]() P.S. I read an interview with Kaz Hirai (spelling?) and they (the magazine) asked about software pricing. Kaz replied with "They [games] will not be $99". That means the Blue Ray games could retail anywhere from $59.99-$98.99 (I think $69 is more likely). I b!tched at $59 games but I've learned to deal. Now they might be higher cuz of Blue Ray? Sorry, it is too much to ask of consumers when there are cheaper alternatives out there with just as much if not more to offer. I will wait until Sony gives me a few reasons to need the PS3 and right now all they have that I want is MGS4. Not enough to justify the price. It's a shame too. I am a huge fan of the PS2. I have over 40 games for it. I never really liked the original Xbox (cept for Halo of course) but the 360 scratches me right where I itch. |

I'm planning on getting one to complement the 360. The 360 is alright, but Sony's always trumped Microsoft when it comes to games. Microsoft has been getting better at it, but still not up to par.
I can sit down and play games with my son with the PS2, but there is nothing on the 360 for which I can say I can sit down and play with my son (4yrs old). I expect the PS3 to have a friendlier and more diverse lineup when it comes out. In the meantime I'll wait for Gears of War and Too Human to come out on 360. |

Oh, and fujibluesi, I think you're right, there never was a demo for Gears of War, but there definitely was a trailer and gameplay video that came out on XLA shortly after E3, but it's not there anymore... and I've since deleted it from my HD.... oh well. It's still going to be sick. Has anyone seen screenshots of Saint's Row and seen a crazy resemblance to GTA? I don't think Rockstar is involved, either. |

And from what I've heard, a great majority of the early 360's were more buggy than the first batch of PS2's (I got the first in my county, lasted two years). If Sony can pull off not having nearly as many bugs, and they lower the price (yeah right), they'll pull ahead, I'm sure.
