The purpose of changing your shift knob for a weighted shift knob like one of ours is for a smoother shift feel. The extra kinetic energy that a heavier shift knob carries with it while in motion actually helps your shifter engage the next gear with less direct effort from the driver. The end result is a smoother feeling shift. Here is a link which describes the effect in greater detail: How does a heavier shift knob help?

The purpose of adding the short shifter is to reduce the distance between gears resulting in a sportier feeling shifter and faster shifts. Adding a short shifter will solve your problem of long shift throws, but as for 3rd gear notchiness I would change your MTF (manual transmission fluid) for something more performance oriented. I believe many members on the board are using royal purple.

Anyone had good results with any other brands of MTF?

Feel free to give us a call if you have any additional questions at 1-877-655-0540.

Thanks,

Kevin

Wow, I thought the regular shift length is short, and the short shifter makes it better...never heard of anyone calling it over-long.

BTW, these guys are great. I went to a lighter shift knob after trying theirs (it fits my style better) but I will not hesitate to recommend and push their product. I was very happy with my TWM stuff and still love their Short Shifter.
