Planning on ordering a SS

I only want to know one thing... can i keep my stock boot/knob? will they still work?

The short shifter does not modify the knob or boot in anyway. Though its seriously considered to switch the stock knob out with a counterweighted one.

All the short shifter for our car does is lengthen the actual shifter arm so that the travel is less.


Depending on how far you want to go.. you can add bushing as well, both the base and linkage.

what is the importance of the weighted knob? is it needed?

You're both sort of right. I have a weighted knob, and it doesn't feel notchy, and when I shift hard, it feels more -- satisfying somehow because of the necessary momentum to throw it. The lighter knob does shift faster though, so I'm thinking about getting the Alex Ti knob.
