So, i finally went for a decent drive this weekend with my SS base/cable bushings and i can say i like the new addition to my ride.
My only complaint is that i had a horrible time installing the cable bushings. I struggled to get the cable bushings on the pin and ended up having to unbolt those 3 screws holding down the cables ontop of the transmission. I was kind of freaked out that i had to remove these screws as i didn't want something to go wrong and have Honda come back at me saying I screwed up. I also struggled to get my air filter back in after installing the cable bushings. Anyways, i know nothing is wrong and everything is installed successfully, it's just that i'm fairly new at Modding, so i'm not too comfortable under the hood. (one mod at a time i guess) All in all, It's been a good mod thus far. When you throw it in gear, damn it feels nice. Shifting does take a little more effort now, but shifting is even more fun now than when i first got my civic. |

Has anyone noticed that it is real tough to get into reverse gear with the TWM cable bushings? Twice I have accidentally put it in 6th in the parking lot thinking it was in reverse, because it seems to require considerably more force to go in then it did before I installed the cable bushings. All the other gears seem ok though.

Yeah i just installed the whole kit this weekend and had two issues with it. First the vertical shift cable would bump/rub on the base at the hole it comes through, not a huge issue I wasn't sure if this would cause me to run into trouble down the road so i grinded the hole open a little more with my dremel tool.
Second I had the same problem as above with hard to get into reverse, thinking it was the bronzoil bushings i took them out and got a drill bit one size bigger than the middle hole and I bore out hole on both, this solve my problem and works great. As a side note i noticed once I installed it and driving around for a few days, I do notice that when the tranny is cold I notice the querks more now with shifting ie. delay going into gear and what not, even with the amsoil but when it warms up its great really makes you want to shift more much more fun to drive. |

I did the cable bushing first but couldn't tell there was a big difference. After i installed the whole kit SS and bushing( luckily i didn't run in any kinds of trouble...didn't have to take the center console of) the shift is shorter but yes the shift has to be more firm and yes there's sort of difference when putting it in reverse.

looking at the recent post..i can see that many are please with the TWM SS.
Now i just traded my scion tC for the SI this past weekend. I had the TWM Stage 2 SS for the tC i was please with it. The only thing i wish could have improve was the throw of the shift, although the the Stick was shorten, the throw of the shift wasnt. Is the TWM ss availible for the 07' si? (sorry i havent researched) if so, is the throw reduced? that would be awsome! |

Yessir... It's available at their website which I am currently looking at (I also own an 07 FG2). I'm about to place my order for the base+cable bushings kit. I also read over their installation manual, which is easy enough to understand, and conisdering I've installed short-shifters on previous cars. Anyway, based on everyones feedback, TWM, you'll be hearing from me soon! |

That said, when I'm just cruising, I do miss my TWM. Shifting was almost effortless, it was smoother. The Spoon knob exacerbates the mechanical, notchy feeling -- though I'm a little on both sides of the fence on that. I love how it feels mechanical, but it does get quite tiring when I just want to drive a little slower. With a few other people having driven my car though, they all loved the feel of the short shifter. A friend of mine test drove an FA5, tried my car, and went all googly eyed at how my shifter felt.

Hey man!
Yes it's 'normal' that the shifts are now a lil bit more stiff! It's mean to be like that, you will get used to it my friend and never miss a shift! :P A+ Simon TWM Performance Quote:
