Talking

Just thought I'd drop in. Ordered the ss, mount bushings and tranny bushings (haven't installed those yet) and I have to say this is the easiest thing I've EVER done on a car. The ss itself was cake to put in, took 10 mins-ish. Removing the center console to put the mount bushings in was easy, I could probably have that done in 5 mins if I ever needed to. Overall, cheap mod, and my shifting is mint now!! This is how this car should be from the factory. Great work guys!!

Omg

O h M y G o d....

I just installed my M1 Abrams... and OMG. What a difference!! This is a different car all of a sudden, the knob sits so low that I feel like my hand is inside the transmission. And the extra weight makes such a huge difference, the shifts are so precise now.

My o my, I installed ss last year and I've been driving with stock knob until now. What a waste of time. the M1 is an absolute must if you have a short-shifter.

I didn't want to come to work this morning, just wanted to keep driving around...

Much crisper shifts with the cable bushings. Best 40 bucks ever spent. The stock ones suck.

I'm still at awe at how nice my new M1 shift knob feels. My brother who owns a BMW 135, thinks the shifting on my Si is 100 times more fun than his 135.

Thanks TWM, and everyone who recommended this to me.

I am very impressed with TWM so far and I haven’t even installed the product yet. I was somewhat skeptical ordering from Canada but WOW. I placed my order Sunday afternoon (6-22) and received my items today (6-26) with standard UPS shipping. If this much care is taken packaging their products, it speaks volumes about the products themselves.

Thanks TWM – More updates when my Short Shifter, Base Bushings & Cable Bushings are installed this weekend.

I ordered the works a month or so ago. Like everyone says, shipping was fast as lightning.

So today I spent the day installing the base and link bushings, along with the short shifter all from TWM.

The install was pretty straight forward. I had some trouble with the first link bushing partly because I was so scared about kinking the link cable. But just like other car maintenance, installing it the second time (the smaller bushing) was easy as pie. The blue cap came off easily also, and I am glad I saved a few dollars by not buying it already installed.

Reactions:
I took the car around the neighborhood after the short shifter and base bushing install. I came back to the house with a huge smile on my face. The shifts seemed incredibly shorter and the shifts were tight.

I drove around again after the link bushings were on. The shifts seemed much more tight and I could notice that it took more effort to throw the car in gear. Now, I am not sure if I was just distracted a lot by the short shifts on the first drive (it is my first short shifter), but the shifts seemed much more tight and like I said, harder to get the car in gear.

I recommend the short shifter and base bushings 100%; no SI should be without it. I think I will have to get used to the whole setup altogether in order to enjoy it more, but overall I am happy.

Hi Phillycivicsi,

The TWM Short Shifter does not shorten side to side throw, it shortens fore and aft (front to back) throw. While it is possible to design a short shifter that shortens side to side throw, it is generally not a good idea to do so. In fact, Toyota had to replace a great deal of engines and transmissions back in 2000-2001 in their Celica GT-S because the stock shifter gates were too narrow. This resulted in a great deal of missed shifts and blown engines, and they widened the shift gates (side to side throw) in the 2002 and up models. We are always reminded of this incident whenever we are asked to reduce side to side throw, and this is why our products shorten only front to back shifts. Making the shift gates narrower makes finding gears more difficult, and increases the risk of missed shifts.

Thank you for the props on our fast shipping and service! I hope the above explanation helps, let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Thank you,

Kevin
