Desert Eagle vs Abrams

I need to pick between the M1 Abrams and the Desert Eagle shift knobs. Not having seen either, and having never used an aftermarket shift knob, what do more people seem to like, and why?

I like the added weight of the Desert Eagle, but I don't want it to sit too high. I also like the shape since I am used to the stock shifter, and it seems similar. I'm worried it will sit higher than the stock knob and I don't want that. It also seems kinda huge, but that of course could just be from pictures. I can't find a pic of it installed in a Civic.

I like the shape of the Abrams less, but I have never used a fully rounded shifter, so I might actually prefer it, but I honestly can't say. I also like the fact that it's still 3x the weight of the OEM knob, even though it's not as much as the Desert Eagle I know most people love their Abrams. Anyone know how much lower this one sits than the OEM knob, when screwed in all the way?

Ideally I'd like to be able to position the top of the knob at the same height as the center console arm rest, I think.

So hard to choose when you don't have the ability to test em out!!

Anyone have any thoughts to add? Tried both?

The way that TWM knobs are designed, the DE should go super low since it has more height to it. Look is one thing, but height does provide a smoother shift. TWM makes great products and you will like either. Go with your gut. Pick up the boot collar too. It adds a nice touch.

I can answer this, I tried all the shift knobs of our line up! First things first, I am one of the biggest fan of the Desert Eagle on this face of the Earth. I've been using this shift knob in my daily driver for the past two years.

But in a car like the 2006+ Civic, it would not be my first choice. Basically, the shifter in the Civic has a dual bend that prevents a tall shift knob like the Desert Eagle to be threaded all the way down. If you want the shift knob to sit very low, it might not be the best option.

If you are not sure about the round shape of the M1 Abrams, you could look at the Type R shift knob:

It's closer to the shape of the stock shift knob, can sit very low on the shifter and has a good weight too.

I hope this helps!

Frank

I think I'll give the Abrams a try since I've heard such good things about it.

Now the next hard choice, flat black or mirror finish!

Thanks for the info Frank!
