I have kind of fallen away from the idea of turbocharging my honda @ the moment because I do love my warranty.

I am aware that Honda cannot void a warranty due to modifications, unless of course the modification could directly affect the problem area.

The problem with that situation is that in order to turbocharge safely, it would require the modification of many key components in our cars, so with that said I will still be researching turbocharging the R18 specifically, but will not be performing this modification for a while

who wants to void their warranty? i don't put a turbo on mine till after 50k miles. But i would like to see turbos being develope for it right now and see what kind of numbers and times they put out.

i had a turboed car and it's addicting.

Frist off... knowing hondas reputation, i miyself arent too worried about needing a warrantly (although this is the first year for the new design). ABout the manifold, My buddy owns a machine shop and makes everything for his car, such as shift knobs, so i am goign to run a civic by him and see what he can do. If he thinks he can design one then its good to go, and FREE! . Ill get back to the post as soon as i figure everything out.

Problem w/ brand new car (oil leaking!)

Be careful. We'll get some parts but there will be some bugs that need to be worked out.

And that may or may not include installation fees.
you still forgot to mention a lot of stuff. You can't just build a bullet-proof engine and slap on a turbo. You need to transfer that power into the transmission, even a flywheel/clutch combo isn't enough, you need to beef up the internals in the trans to be able to put that power to the wheels, along with stronger axles. Then it doesn't even STOP there, you need a good suspension setup to help the car gain stability when accelerating.

My GSX had forged internals, bored .020 over. I had the cyl head ported and polished..more so on the exhaust side since turbo's force air in.. no need to polish the intake side as much. After everythign was done, I had it running for about a week then sold the car to some kid.. He's pushing a good 550whp in the eclipse for 30,000 miles no without a single problem. The engine was built to handle at least 700-800whp.

How much would you say forged pistons and rods cost?

I woudlnt be suprised it this motor holds 230whp stock internals.
Many D16Z's have seen 250whp stock internals on 14psi. I wouldnt want to push it anywhere around there, but with a GREAT tune, you could probably daily 210-220whp if you knew what you were doing.
Oh, and forged internals will run you about 600 for pistons, 800-1000 for rods, might as well do sleeves (1000), ARP sutds, and bolts (300), and labor...that could really vary...but expect a LOT!
Not worth it unless you are really adimant about 230whp+
Keep in mind, its not just a turbo kit and go...its the kit, gauges, tuning, ECU, Clutch, something to get all that power to the ground (i.e.-LSD), depending on how complete the kit is maybe intercooler, BOV, and wastegate, etc.
Its a big investement.

Yeah I got good credit, maybe Ill take out a loan with good APR and pay off with the car. I am hoping no more then $3600 for 220hwp. That should get me in the low 5's 0-60. Thats all I want it will cost me about $75 a month extra. I can do that no prob.

it's going to cost a lot more than 3600 dollars. and you will not be in the low 5's.

Really, well the GS400 98 with 300hp is at 5.3, the Civic that is lighter with 220 shouldnt be too far behind right?

Yea, but the GS400 is RWD and has GOBS of torque...that makes a HUGE difference in acceleration, plus you are going to have turbo lag...turbo's arent really great for 0-60, they are great for 1/4 mile. If you want good 0-60, get a supercharger...but before you ask, I seriously doubt there will ever be one for our cars. There still isnt one for the 7th gen civic...doubt they would just skip a generation.
0-60 really isnt a great measure for how fast your car is either. Most people really look at 1/4 mile times. If you can get a mid 13 second car, that will more lots of fun to drive no matter how you look at it.

So with 222hp what would you say the Sedan would be at?
