d17 isnt that different from r18, that is why im basing some numbers in that kit so you have and estimated in gain power... i always said if the r18 reacts the same as the d17 the power gain should be like that....

the r18 is more efficient engine so it should gain a little bit more im pretty confident we will see with a kit similar to the dezod one something in the numbers of 240 to 250whp that is a lot

What you don't understand is that this thread is concerned with developing a CUSTOM kit...not one similar to the DEZOD kit, but one that is high quality and uses some of the best components in the industry with more effective tuning/reliability/more power

the problems I have with buying a "kit" is that there is a factored in labor/profit in these kits, not to mention they are not specfically tailored to an individual's needs.

If you piece together your own kit then you will have a kit with the exact options you want, and it is MUCH MUCH MUCH cheapers

custom can be cheaper but it can also cost more. Depends on what you mean by peice your own kit.. you can make your own pipes or buy ones that might fit.. price difference can be a lot. Plus a KIT has everything you'll need so you'll save time for the most part.

In general, it can go both ways. I prefer custom since not everyone will have the same parts.

That response right there is just one of the many little reasons I will piece a kit together...you can almost guarantee no one else will have your exact same setup

goingo custom as unplugged said coul be cheaper or more expensive i think that kit is nice priced the only labour they are charging to you are the custom parts for the car... you pay for that too, custon only can be cheaper searching a lot or using cheaper parts

i preffer a kit so i wont forget anything and if the kit says you will gain X amount of HP i know im going to gain that or something similar, and always you can customize after your kit .... but rigth now i just want someone look at our poll and get interested in our engine.

Cutting your own pipes, being able to bend them, etc.. would definitely lower the price. But if you go to a shop, you might end up paying the same as if you were to get a kit having them put it together for you.

Remember.. when you buy a BOV, wastegate, turbo, etc online you don't pay full MSRP usually. You can always find it cheaper. When you buy a kit, your probably paying full price for each item and the time spent developing it.

The money you save with your own custom kit, will be spent on labor tuning it. But if you do your own work, you can save some money there. Its basically a gamble. But more times than not, at least for turbo setups, custom is usually cheaper in the end because you have all the parts you want. With a kit, most people want to upgrade later on. Plus nothing beats saying, I put this together myself instead of someone saying, oh, I have another Greddy Kit like the car next to me...

I had a local today quote me $805.00 for a custom fabricated log style manifold, 3in. downpipe with flex pipe, and a full 3in exhaust with the cat relocated near the rear and an apex'i N1 3in. muffler.

That also includes a flange for a GT28RS and Tial 38mm wastegate.

Intake or exhaust manifold? I'm guessing you're talking about the exhaust manifold. You guys should also think about switching to the RBC on the Si for the intake side. It's the best IM Honda's made yet. That should free up a bit of horsepower and since you're pumping air through the engine anyway. It helps with the top-end (much like turbos do )

no the Si intake manifold won't bolt up to the R18...that's like saying a K-series manifold will bolt up to a D-series or even a B to a D...I wish, but won't happen

So how long do you think it'll be before a kit is put together and tested and all that?
