New build EFR 7064 Full Race Kit? Anyone done an EFR?
I'm planning to build my car this winter and I'm intregued by the new EFR setups. I'd like to pull the trigger next week and order everything. My goal is to be conservatively tuned at 450hp. The Full Race kit looks really nice and i'm pretty sure it's the way I'm going to go but I'm still making up my mind on the Turbo to run.
Has anyone run a 7064 on a K20? I'd love some input and even better, some real world results. Here is my parts list to start. What are your thoughts? Full Race Turbo kit - BW EFR 7064, Mounts- Hasport, Fuel Pump- U70A Fuel Injectors- ID1000 Flashpro+Traction Control,Boost Solenoid, 4 Bar Map Sensor, Tune- Etune2,, Traction Balls, Turbo Shield, Heat Wrap kit Gauge Pod- XLR8 V2, Boost Gauge-AEM Digital Wide Band Gauge- AEM Digital, 3" Exhaust, Clutch Stage 4, Vacuum Block. you running a stock bottom end? if so i would recommended building it if you truly want your "conservative 450hp" tune to last. if youre gonna put the money down for the kit make sure the engine (and the tranny) can take it so you dont blow up 2k miles and 7 grand later.

They have been next to impossible to get pretty much since they came out that's why more of us aren't using them. I tried to go efr but everyone I went to said I would have to wait for 6 months

I din't think to check availability before getting a price quote. That could be an issue. I saw that they were unavailible last year, hope it's not still an issue or the decision will be made for me.

GTX > EFR imo. I've spoken to several people about the two and talked to people with experience using both.

Care to elaborate on that more? From what I've read the EFR offers benefits in transient response on the road with no real drawback. But it would be interesting to know why some people who have used both prefer the GTX

The GTX spools faster you get to use it externally gated which is better and can use a 4 port boost control solenoid which is better and allows you to run 3 psi in first gear and as much as 20+ in higher gears if your motor can handle it. I'd have to go check my pm but those are some key reasons. The GTX series are very nice turbos the efr turbos are just marketed better. Also now that there is the quick spool feature in flashpro that helps he transient response of turbos but helps the most for externally gated turbos with 4 port solenoid.

I was under the impression the EFR's spool faster and sooner and maintain it while shifting

Yeah what I had heard was that the EFRs have a spool advantage especially when they're loaded on the road, and that a lot of times they don't show a big advantage on the dyno because of that.
