I love the turbo on my car, performs great, but damnit it's quiet! I'm not ashamed to say part of the allure of a turbo on my car was the sound of a turbo spooling and the bov venting lol. One for two I guess. Perhaps I'll look into this CEA now that I'm wanting a 5857 BB.

I sent an email but on precisions page it say they do have an upgrade. It's $550 for upgraded CEA turbine wheel, turbine housing of the same A/R, seals and bearings

Yeah, the CEA's are replacing their old billet line of turbos from what I understand. They're using slightly more expensive material, but using less of it. And still keeping the price point competative, I'd say that's awesome.

The turbo's that are $500+ more expensive are the ball bearing ones. not really worth it IMHO unless you're doing endurance circuit race courses.

excellent news, wonder how much it would be to upgrade in A/R and get a 5862 if not just sell the 5857 and get a 6262

I did some googling and according to a recent thread on honda-tech, TheShodan said that the CEA turbos are the same as the billet. It's just a name change. If you don't know, TheShodan is a turbo whiz and builds his own turbos and whatnot, so I take whatever he says on good authority. I was actually suspecting that as well because I remembered reading a statement from precision a while back that they wanted to move away from the term 'billet'.

Edit - it looks like a little material was removed from the center hub, that's the only difference according to him. I'll pass on that $550 upgrade.. lol

Precision 66mm CEA Turbine Exhaust Wheel 6266 6766

see for yourself

pay special attention to the thickness of the blades at the snout. Much like the CEA Compressor wheels, less material is used, thinner blades, thinner snout means less room taken up by metal, more room taken up by air, and a lighter wheel with less mass.

Yeah, I've seen that before. Is that a comparison between the older cast wheels though, or the new billet ones? TheShodan is convinced that the CEA turbos are different from the 08-10 turbos, but not the later billet ones except that the center hub is a little thinner.

To be honest, the only reason I even googled this was because I looked at some CEA turbo vidoes on youtube, and they sounded the exact same as the turbo I have now. I didn't hear any of this 'jet engine' stuff you guys keep talking about, lol.
