wrecked's GT3076R Full-Race build thread

Hey guys,

As some of you know, I was the first to purchase the new Full-Race turbo kit. I will be installing it at my dealership tomorrow and Friday. Here are some pics of the parts.

just loaded up the car

and some pics of the car this stuff is going on

I'm hoping to be ready to tune by the 17 or 22nd.
i will be updating tomorrow night and Friday with pics.

enjoy!

UPDATE!!!! Had a loooong day today

Got there about 7:20

Bumper off!

Exhaust gone

Bumper beam off

Guess what im about to do

This is looking through the bottom

Had some trouble getting the steering shaft apart

There she is in all her glory. The k30z3 powertrain!

Finally took my parts out of my car

Injected one of the mounts

Got the trans off

Look at that clutch

It looks like it got real hot before.. probably sometime during my 4 hours of constant 8600rpm up/downshifts while road racing

Took the flywheel off and noticed a rear main leak

Had to wait on the seal before I could put the clutch back together so I started doing other stuff like heat shielding

Before

After

Decided I wanted to do something fun and started mounting the intercooler but noticed it was touching the horn bracket

So I had to modify it a lil

The full race bumper beam and intercooler mounted up nicely. I am very happy with how sturdy it is

I also had to mount the ambient air temp sensor vertically since I couldn’t get it to fit in between the intercooler and condenser.

***** mean

Showing clearance

Raising the motor off the sub frame to get at the other mount and the pan

I got the pan on before I left but I didn’t have enough time to take any pictures because I was rushed out since the place was closing. And because of this, I forgot to lower the motor safely because the hoist has a small leak causing it to lower itself slowly… which means when I get back tomorrow, my engine will probably be laying on the ground. Hopefully nothing gets damaged :/ but I think I got pretty far today and I should be able to get done tomorrow. It will be A LOT of work though..
UPDATE!!!
progress today was somewhat slow. I ran into some issues. The oil return line would kink a bit no matter what way or what length i had the hose set up. Also, the steering rack bracket that hold the connections for the rack had a major clearance issue with the down pipe. It required me to cut it off completely. i will show pictures below.. By the way, Phil and Geoff helped tremendously with any questions or concerns i had. Thanks ALOT guys!

this is when i just got there. i was happy to see that some how, my engine wasn't laying on its side

first thing i did was safely re mount the motor to the subframe and attempt to mount the manifold, but i couldent get one of the bolts in so i had to move a stud

test fitting turbo

replacing seal

new OEM flywheel

heres that bracket i had to modify

re routed connections under steering rack

heres the other issue i came across (full race is supplying me new fittings!)

motors going back in (FINALLY!!!)

almost!

motors in!

you guys think it will be ok to drive with that return tube kinked like that?

slaved my ass off on this car! only a few hours left until shes done!

it was real slow at work today so i had a few hours to mess with my car some more. started with mounting the intercooler piping (its a *****!)

first you have to cut this section of metal off

the top tube wasn't getting enough clearance so i had to clamp down the pipe while it was out of the center of the coupler giving me another inch or so. it was still a really tight fit.

i did a few other little things then started it up

the thing is real loud open down pipe. i cant believe im going to be driving like this on the street soon. anyway, only a couple more things to do until i can drive it. so i cleaned up the huge mess and left to be worked on and "finished" (drivable) hopefully on Monday.

UPDATE!!

i messed with the intercooler piping some more and got it to fit better.

the main reason why i couldn't get it to fit initially was because the pipe the blowoff valve connects to was angled a little off.. basically, you wand the 2 pipes to be right on top of each other.

the pipe definitely needs to be longer though. you can see where the bulge is, far way from the center of the coupler.

anyway, i got it to fit half way decent, so later on in the day, i had some more time to work on it and my dad brought over some parts Phil from full race overnighted for me.

with the 45 degree fitting screwed into the pan and the straight AN fitting, the return hose was perfect.

some pics with the bumper on

i dident get a chance to put the intake on yet, just slapped on the filter on, i need to get that done before i tune..

here is the intake (for people asking where it was)

and now.. my mini novice photoshoot of my dirty car with a normal digital camera next to a new is250c

and now the moment you all REALLY been waiting for, running in car vids of open downpipe! enjoy! (i haven't even watched them yet!, lol)

UPDATE!! DYNO DAY

the reason why my car wouldn't start was because i had the 4 bar map sensor in when i was supposed to be using the stock one with the Bosch tune. when i went to switch out the sensor, the o ring was stuck in the manifold so the damn thing broke that's a 130 bucks out of my pocket... Anyway, after i got the car running, i brought it down to the shop i work at to look it over and try to install the dump tube. No matter what angle i had it, the thing wouldn't fit, so i ended up cutting it right after the bend and directing it toward the right side axle.. best direction i could get it. got it on the dyno around 1 o'clock. after about an hour of tuning the car was making a little over 400whp withe the injector duty cycle around 75% and 9.5 psi. My pump was holding good pressure it seemed. on the next pull we heard a pop noise so Jeff stopped in the middle of the pull so we could see what it was. We couldent see anything wrong be we suspect the 90 degree coupler right off the turbo melted causing it to leak. the car would max out around 2 psi after that. Jeff said the car would easily make another 50hp or more. It wasn't knocking yet and there was still plenty of room left in the injector duty cycle. So i never got to feel the power yet but Geoff is on it trying to fix any issues im having. Photos and my graph should be on Jeff Evans site soon.

This kit comes with no basemap correct? So basically you have to have your tuner install it at the shop or have your car towed there from what I understand correct?
