Why are you so worried about 0-60 times? Not many people on here with turbos including myself are going to be able to properly estimate our 0-60 times.
I would ask for hp & torque numbers so you can compare to stock. Also maybe 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile, and 60ft times from the track would help. -Jeff |

I think the drop in boost is due to the Vtec cam design. And there being too much overlap when the vtec cams engage. I really don't think the turbo is running out of breath that suddenly. This is merely a theory of mine based on a converation with a Skunk2 tech I had a while back while I was researching what power adder I should purchase. He told me this would happen with the GReddy kit or any turbo for that matter. He recommended that I get an exhaust cam gear and retard the exhaust cam a few degrees and it will hold boost significantly better in Vtec. But I'm not sure if he was just trying to sell me a cam gear or if he was just being honest...lol...But it does make sense. NA motors use an overlap where the intake valves and exhaust valves are open at the same time for a bit to inprove flow and use exhaust scavenging to help pull the intake charge during the exhaust stroke. And having forced induction will change the need for that. The boost pressure will drop due to the valves being open simultaniously causing the boost pressure to pass right through the open intake and exhaust valves. This is what causes the boost drop in Vtec. Not the turbo itself. That's what he told me anyway. I wish I still had the email he sent me but I deleted it a while back.

Roger, were you running an electronic boost controller with your GReddy kit? I had a conversation with Chris from Redshift about this and he told me that the wastegate design is also contributing to the boost drop in Vtec and that using a well designed EBC will help greatly in holding boost pressure in Vtec also.

i'd probably worry about the performance gains hp/torque wise...0-60 has a lot to do with how good of a driver you are rather than anyhing else...no matter what you get on your car, if u cant drive, then ur still gonna be slow. If you get a lot of increase in performance...then thats a potential to improve your 0-60...so i'd worry more about increase in performance.

Also. Other K-series motors that are boosted, like the RSX and pretty much every K-series but us, usually have K-pro. Where they can control cam angles and timimg. This will stop overlap and stop this problem from happening. We have no control over cam angles therefore we loose boost pressure up top when Vtec engages. It has nothing to do with the turbo.....

Np Roger. I'm hoping Vmanage will be ready for us soon. I might just go with the cam gear eand see what happens. I just really don't want to have to change it out. It looks like a real PITA to do. Hehe....
What do you have to do to the spring? I would like to get everything all set before I go to have my car tuned in August. If you could give me a basic explanation on what needs to be done that would be great. |

Not without a way to hook the power up. If you have crazy power to make up the difference after you spin the tires at launch. But if you have just enough power to constantly break the tires loose but not enough power up top to make up the difference your times will suffer from bad traction. That's what I've noticed anyway.
