Strangely, I made the shifter further to reach by replacing the shift knob with a Voodoo brushed alu knob. Comptech SS kit makes the shifts a bit quicker however. About 3 weeks ago I had the most fortunate opportunity to drive a 430, as in Ferrari, with paddle shifters. Whoa buddy. I have paddle shifters on my computer gaming rig for driving sims but nothing compares to the real thing! I hope the next revision of the Si includes proper paddle shifters. Doesn't the Fit even had an option for that?
I think we are still a few years from a true seqential gearbox. VAG's DSG, BMW's SMG and of course Ferrari's are the only non-slushbox seqentials that come to mind. I think Alpha Romeo has one too, but anyway... oh, Toyota had one available for the MR spyders and the Celica GT-S's.

The problem with consumer sequential transmissions is that the car isn't able to decide whether you want a quick or a slow soft shift. An automated sequential is capable of very fast, jarring shifts, not exactly what you want when you are pulling out of the grocery store parkinglot with a seat full of groceries The SMG's (IIRC) were adjustable, but you'd still have to play with it all the time depending on your driving mood, and the Toyotas were not adjustable and too slow.

Anyway.

You can feel it all you want at the Dragon meet.
I might be bringing some machined standoffs to the meet to hand out. I've got the drawings for them done, I just haven't got them made yet.

I wonder if a Euro or JDM center consol would fit in our cars... that would be great to have the shifter and the Ebrake swap sides.

There is a thread floating around about that, but after having the console off, I know that you would at least have to swap the entire shifter/e-brake sub frame casting to get it to work. The shifter and e-brake bolt to that.

commend u on trying ur own idea... but i think this may have problems down the road. i had to change my shifter cables once already, u cant really stretch them out much more than how they are already placed. if you look at the bracket on the tranny that holds the lines there is a peice of plastic that keeps the cable on the right track and if that breaks it feels like your syncros have blown to pieces cause you wont be able to shift fast at all. trust me lol. but anyways with that cable being stretched out another inch or so, your putting alot of stress on that plastic peice because u have to put all the movement in a front wheel drive car into play... and the si has ALOT. it may feel fine now but in 6 months your gonna be slammin thru gears showin someone how fun your car is and how reliable honda is, then your gonna throw it into 2nd and all your gonna get is grinding, then you'll try it again and you'll be like" damn i think my syncros goin bad" and your buddy will be like" HONDA pff .... junky jap cars" lol, just my 2cents since ive had a broken shifter cable already and they cost a pretty good amount and its a F****** pain to change and i do this for a living. it sucked

So far, three months and no problems. I didn't really stretch the cables, I removed one of the cable guide brackets from the exhaust tunnel which gave me the little bit of slack I needed.

I'll keep cable bracket failure in mind when it feels like my syncros go to crap. when something goes wrong I always assume the worst. (I once bought three extra wheels, thinking I had a bent rims when I just had two tires that defective.)

I finally figured out why my knob is so scratched. When I was taking it off and putting it on, I was wrenching with my right hand, and holding the knob with my left. My titanium ring was what scratched the surface.
Oh well, I have a FD2 knob on order, I'll try not to scratch it up too.

Update: 7 months, no problems.

I also finally ordered some 1" aluminum spacers to replace the stack of washers I have under my shifter assembly. I doubt I'll have them in my hand by Christmas though.

how high were you able to rais it without relocating the shifter cables?

did you have to buy a longer bolt OR just slip the washers in under the OEM blot?
