The "short" in short shifter, at least for the FG2's TWM or Comptech pieces refer to the throw, not the height of the shift knob.
UPDATE: There are three locations of minor interference. Oddly, the SS peice clears. The left cable ball, the right piviot mount and the big black shifter dome all interfere slightly with just the shift boot ring. With a little dremmel'n I fixed the right piviot interference without changing the outward appearance of the ring. Honestly, if I took out two washers from each stack, it would probably work without hacking anything. I'm about to do some major surgery now which may take a couple of hours. |

Alright. I'm done.
I had to hack the crap out of the boot ring and the boot clamp ring, but it fits, and it works. Here are the pictures: Note the shifter hole is bigger. I removed the lip. Hairy legs and a bunch of cut plastic: And the final product: |

Thats what I thought too. I nothing touches it except for my astroglide softened hands, and no one but me drives it. It does not look that bad when not in a flash, but still, it does look ruined.
![]() ...Actually, I shift with the fork that is on my floorboard in the picture. Shift-fork, get it? ![]() |

The idea of having the shifter more to the left and up a bit is spot on! My last car was a slightly modded 2000 MX5. The shifter fell literally to hand when I moved right hand off the wheel to grab a gear up or down. Really miss that. I'm used to the shifter in the Si now however. Strangely, I made the shifter further to reach by replacing the shift knob with a Voodoo brushed alu knob. Comptech SS kit makes the shifts a bit quicker however. About 3 weeks ago I had the most fortunate opportunity to drive a 430, as in Ferrari, with paddle shifters. Whoa buddy. I have paddle shifters on my computer gaming rig for driving sims but nothing compares to the real thing! I hope the next revision of the Si includes proper paddle shifters. Doesn't the Fit even had an option for that?
