Switched mine out yesterday. I went with Amsoil. I felt an immediate difference, smoother shifting and just all around better ride with high and low rpm's.

Hey does anyone know if there is a transmission fluid dipstick to check the level of fluid? I looked after changing mine and I cant seem to find one.

I don't think there is for the manual transmission. You basically fill it up until it overflows on a level surface.

There is no dip stick for the manual transmission. Just keep pumping the fluid in there until it comes out. Make sure your car is level. I put about 1.8 L of amsoil in my si does great.

That sucks. What i did was fill it while it was jacked leaning to the right, filled it as much as possible. It was over flowing out while tilted (to the right). Then I set it down, but when I set it down I saw little to none drip out. So I'm scared I didnt have enough.

And I thought paying $75 at the dealer was cheap for having this done! After seeing how easy it is, now I feel violated!

I have always changed my own engine oil, but considered transmissions not a DIY.

Wrong!

Thanks for this.

put the car down,
let it drain.
jack the car up again
put the drain bolt back
take off the wheel
fill the transmission up to 1.8qt-2qt
put the wheel back
put the car down, let the excess fluid out
jack the car up,put the filler plug back in.
put the car down then
This is how I changed mine.

I fill mine with the driver side on a jackstand. Rather have more than not enough fluid.

See I kept my car level and used just about 1.7 qts......one reason i dont like to over fill its just like if you over fill your engine oil. You're not supposed to because it will make the moving parts have a harder time doing their job. Like many have stated when changing the fluid more came out than what you had to put in. IMO thats why our trannys feel like sh*t from the dealer, because at the manufacturer they fill the tranny's while they are on their side.

I'm doing mine right now. Just figured out a way to get the car up on all four. Took a little of thinking outside the box, lol. My ramps were too high, the front bumper wouldn't clear them so I used 2x4's to get the car up a little then put the ramps. Drove up them then jacked the rear and supported it with jack stands. Went inside to warm up a bit since it's a crisp 23 degrees outside. Going to drain and fill it now.

OK, she's draining now. No issues with removing the fill/drain bolts. Back inside trying to warm up, lol while she continues to drain. Sorry for the play by play action, lol.
