I especially love it when they tell you that you need to have the first service performed by the Dealer to keep the warranty intact.. If that were fact, they have to supply it for free... Next is with Fluids and Maintenance... It is against the law (In USA) for them to void a warranty due to Brand of fluid, as long as it meets OEM Specs, and for that matter, the time interval of maintenance can not be used to void warranty. Drain the fluid when the tranny is hot and replace the fluid.. The following link will give you an idea of how there is no regulations that companies have to follow where Gear Lube is concerned. http://bestoil4you.com/files/g2457GearLube.pdf You could almost take Maple Syrup, add a little sulpher for sniff factor and sell it for gear lube... Amsoil MTF was HORRIBLE!!! I switched to Redline and my transmission works flawlessly. I'm putting down 303whp and 260wtq and my tranny is perfect. I was having serious 3rd gear popout and engagement problems along with some 2nd gear grinding. I went with the Redline stuff and all the problems were instantly fixed. I also tried a few different brands of Amsoil motor oil in my turbo motor and the stuff smoked and burnt off faster than I've ver seen. The GReddy oil outperformed it and so did the Mobil1, barely. The best stuff so far has been the Motul 8100 5W-40. But I'm going to go with the Motul 300 5w-40 next time. My personal opinion is Amsoil blows ass. And I really don't give a crap about oil analysis or any crap on the internet. My REAL WORLD experience with Amsoil was terrible.

All the lab testing and BS comparisons mean **** compared to real world issues. I've used that Amsoil crap and my transmission and motor operated horribly. The oil burnt off like it was wesson oil and the tranny barely shifted right. As soon as I got that crap out of my car everything worked like it was supposed to. Did that BS test tell me anything about how their fluids would perform in my car?

Kind of hard to draw any comparison when you are running 2 different weight fluids, much less types of fluid, but if it didn't work, it didn't work. I would have went with the MTG seeing the MTF is designed to replace the OEM Fluid. My real world experience is I have several hundred Honda owners that have had just the opposite experience as you, along with the Honda Dealerships I sell to, so there is a good possibility it could be driver error. I just said it was a possibility... You drew the line to making it definitive..
And Dude... I have been driving manual trannies for close to 40 years... Not sure what that has to do with anything... I have never tore up a Gear Box either... Have smoked a clutch or two launching 3700 lb cars at 8K.... LOL I just think that after over 35 years in business and almost 25 with AMSOIL, I have not had these problems with the thousands of people I have dealt with. I even have a Ferrari Dealership using AMSOIL after I cured a shift problem on a Testarossa, nd I have Honda Dealerships using the AMSOIL MTF as it smooths the shifts.. So I have to wonder why you have problems.. I usually find that someone that has a complaint like that and is so adamant about it has not used the product, used the wrong product or it was taken in to have the fluid changed and the guy changing it has swapped it out so he could keep it. Another good one, and have seen it on this forum, possibly in this thread is where they filled it with as much fluid as it would take and at least one jacked the car up on it's side so it would take more fluid..... Sorry, after this many years in the business, I find your claim hard to believe... Not saying it is impossible, just hard to believe. Could have always been a bad batch just as it can happen with any manufacturer. Happy New Year !! Doc |
