just finished my RP oil change & AMSOIL tranny oil on my '07 SI.....wasnt too sure if different tranny fluid would help, but so far, so good....40 miles & no 3rd gear grind/missed shifts.....BTW, hardest part of the whole job was that damn oil filter!!LOL

The invoice that came in the box says "Syn Manual Trans Fluid 5w-30." Is this ok? I'm probably just over concerned but I love my SI!
Thanks.
I heard it doesnt say 5w-30 anymore becuase people put it in their car like reguar oil

MTF is the proper fluid... it is a 5W-20 and should AbsolutelyNEVER be mixed with MTG.. Had someone email me on that...

The specs from Honda are so loose on this application, there is almost no concern what you put in it but, using the proper fluid will insure good shifting and a long life as long as it is not abused.

What year is your SI and how many miles do you have on it?

I recently changed mine, although 1-->2 seems easier, now I feel some crunching when I don't shift into 3rd or 5th firmly. Im not sure if its due to the amsoil or if its just because its 38 degrees out and our tranny just cant handle that temp...btw, the car was already warmed up.

It was 35 degrees when i drove to work today. i was running late so i didnt even warm my car up for more than 30 seconds. Even shifitng then, there were no grinds. After the car warmed up, everything felt fine. 3rd gear goes in smoothly and no resistance, but it still sounds different than all the other gears...still a bit crunchy. I would say going into 2nd is alot better in daily driving. My biggest complaint is going into first gear when the car is rolling is like a crap shoot.

That is because there is no Synchro for First and Reverse. You are suppose to be at a dead stop for those two gears.

You should really never be going into first gear when you're rolling. The only purpose of that gear is to get you going from a dead stop. If you really need to go into first when rolling, then you would want to rev match the gears for it to be a bit of a smoother transition. Otherwise, there's too much resistance for you to be putting it in gear while moving.

So even at 5mph, I should just keep it in 2nd? I've done this a couple times before, however the engine really bogs down and I feel like Im slipping the clutch to much. I cant really let off until it gets back upto 7 or 8mph.

That is fine. It is better than going back into first then into second.

theres no need to use the clutch at 5mph. dont need to clutch in untill like 3mph. the car will roll along at like 4mph if you put it in 2nd release the clutch and dont press anything.

Hmmm interested.. i Know 1st gear can maintain speed at 4-5 mph without adding gas, but 2nd gear feels like its about to stall at anything below 7mph.
