Will there be room to get to everything if I just put the front up on ramps and leave the wheels on? Ramps are quicker than jacking up the car.

I/E/RH NO REFLASH
a much easier method to fill the transmission other than using the suction/fill gun is to run a piece of rubber hose attach to a funnel from the top of the engine bay down to the fill hole. think of it like giving the transmission a "oil bong"

Thanks for the post.

Just remember to replace the crush washer with a new one and torque the fill and drain plugs to spec.

I'm a big fan of the fluid suction/fill syringe.....been using one for years to fill diffs and transfer cases on domestic cars and trucks. I find that the funnel method tends to make a big mess if you're not paying attention when you're topping off and it's tuff to get into tight spots.....plus you may need a second guy around to fill as you hold the clear plastic hose is the fill hole and watch to see when it's filled. I just hate when it's filled and you still have fluid in the 18" long clear plastic hose. I also have one of those cheapo fluid transfer pumps and that also works pretty well.

I tried to change the MTF today but I couldn't get the fill bolt off for the life of me. They either overtightened it or I'm just a major weakling. I'll give it another try tomorrow.

If this was directory towards me, I lifted the car as best I could. I jacked it up and put jack stands behind both front wheels. I had enough room to get under the car, but I just couldn't loosen the damn bolt. I was afraid that if I pulled any harder, the car would come crashing down on top of me.

I don't suppose there's anyone within driving distance of Philly that would be able to give me a hand?

Maybe they just overtightened the bolt on mine. I pulled on the wrench so hard for so long my wrist was sore for a couple days. I tried everything I could think of short of hitting the thing with a hammer. Seeing as I was under the car while it was jack stands, I didn't think that was a good idea, hehe. I'm going to feel like a complete ass if I have to take my care to somewhere for a professional to do this.

It's a Craftsman socket wrench. Nothing fancy, just their basic model. I don't know the exact length but I'd say 6 - 8 inches.

you might know this but you have to turn it clockwise facing the volt...

Clockwise? You normally loosen bolts by turning them counter clockwise and tighten them by turning clockwise. Are you saying the fill bolt is backwards?

Uhh...I don't know what the deal is with his transmission, but mine is standard, not reverse-threaded.
