anybody here prefer the TWM over say any of the others out there? To me the TWM looks like a little more expensive but a lot less of a hassle and a little more durable. I was originally thinking about ordering the Skunk2 adapter but I really don't want to be trimming plastic.

In Theory can you get an 06 SI shifter assembly and install the short shifter adaptor to it.

They are pretty cheap:
Hondapartsdeals.com has the 06 assembly for $47
and compared to the $259 pricetag on the stage two shifter its a bargain.

Was thinking about it and not sure if it will work? Anyone try it before.

I have an '09 and got this adaptor about 6months ago only to realize it doesn't fit right and i dont really want to mess with the dremel and cut into the stock unit just in case i need to take it back for warranty work?!?

then why not get a extra 09 shifter assy. like bart did, that way you will have a super short through and a spare one for later...

besides what warranty work do you for see that might involve them taking apart the center counsel to see your mod? if you do it right they might never know anyways....

and i ground down the stupid tabs too... useless tabs....

I removed that plastic coller and now it sits like this...

What I Did so Far to Make My Shifting Experience All So Enjoyable

1) First Mod I did was TWM Solid Bronze Base Bushings

Test Drive Right After Was Incredible! Big Difference in Feel! Especially Reverse gear!!

2) Second Mod I DID was portabuddy's Cheap but SUPER EFFECTIVE HOME MADE SUPER SHORT SHIFTER.

Why cheap? Well replacement '09 OEM shift lever was aprox. $32, CT Short Shifter was like $29, and i already had the dremel tool.
Solid Brass Weighted Shift knob = $50 from this seller on ebay
Solid Brass Shift Knob, Weighted : eBay Motors (item 250470660303 end time Apr-19-10 08:12:31 PDT)

so for a SUPER SHORT SMOOTH THROW cost me only $90. portabuddy FTW!!!!

AND HERE LIES THE PROBLEM WITH '09 and up shifters!

Problem Solved

OOOH 490gm Brushed Bronze Shift Knob

Driving with this thing is amazing! I mean throw is reduced ALOT! Its solid responsive and everyday driving has become much much more enjoyable.

MORE PICS TOO COME OF EVERYTHING Put BACK TOGETHER WITH TWM SOLID ALUMINUM BASE BUSHINGS

Agreed and thanks for the write up. Just did this to my 09 and all I can say is wow. Such a solid feel with the base bushings. The first time I took it out I found myself trying to push it into gear harder than it needs. The throw is a night and day difference.

I think the adaptors reduce the throw for 09's even more than 06-08's due to the stock pivot point being longer.

Anyway thanks again for the write up it was extremely helpful.

Thats Mr.Bart to you!
your welcome guys...

and just to add, one more problem with the 09+ that i just learned about is the poor fitment for the shifter bushings...

Someone gave me a set of bushings for helping him with his fog lights...

these bushings.

they where in bad shape when i got them so i polished them for fun. anyway.

I finaly got around to installing them the other day and they where loose. like really sloppy. i had to hammer on the shifter linkage overtop of the bushing to the point that i dint need the big E-clip but the center shaft was all loosie goosie. with almost a 1/8th between the shaft(where the cotter pin goes) and the brass bushing.

So i thought about useing epoxy?, nope. that wont work too well. then it hit me.

Synflex inserts. you see everything on a transport truck is air powered and the air lines are either rubber or plastic. well the plastic ones use whats called a insert and a ferrl, where when a outer nut is tightened it crushes down tightly against the the plastic line and that onto the incert. well the one used for 3/8th's airline is the PERFECT SIZE...

here is a pic of it.

it fits perfectly into the space between the bushing and the shaft, it even took up the room between the bushing and the cotter pin to fit better.

OMFG, its tighter and shifts better then my brothers 06 with the same bushings.

They can be found at any and all truck shops.anywhere you see peterbilts, westernstar's, freaightliner's, Mack's, Volvo's. any truck shop must carry this.,

Hell any home improvement store has to aswell becasue they are used in water softeners, dishwashers, garbage disposals. any plastic tubing.

Universal part-number is

Fairview fittings: 1481-6
wurth: 884.1481*6
and so on... everyone uses 1481 for the ferrl part number and the 6 means 3/8th's
