Just installed my SS + bushings and I love it :)

The install of the 2 lower bushings was a biatch since space is really limited in that area..I almost dropped one of the bushings For those of you who don't have a vise at home, you can simply get one of these C clapms from Ace Hardware store or Northern Tools for about $6, they may come in handy down the road. It was really simple pushing the blue plastic cup into the SS adapter with it. I did noticed that 5th & 6th gear have a little getting used to shift after the SS install..like I almost couldn't get it in gear, but obviously the travel was shorter, hence why it may take some time to get used to it. Well, that's it.. just wanted to contribute for those of you planning on getting this SS. Took the car for a test drive right after and it really makes a nice diference in the shifter travel. Nice mod to the car :)

when i put the blue cap on, i just sat the blue cap on top of some cardboard i had, then put the short shifter on top of that, followed by the tool that was provided. i just used my body weight to put the cap on. much easier than using a vice or c clamp imo.

Good idea for the c-clamp, not everyone has a bench vise. Thanks for your order and thanks for the props!

Thanks for your order! Your short shifter and base bushings will ship out today and you'll receive a UPS tracking number by e-mail. Shipping with UPS ground to Florida should take 4 or 5 business days.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi,

We ship from Canada, so we are open and Monday does count as one of the 4 or 5 days. This means you should receive your order by Thursday or Friday of next week.

Thanks,

Kevin

I installed the Short shifter and the aluminum base bushings for the shifter and the base bushings. I totally saw how the short shifter worked but I completely thought the base bushings were "snake oil" Anyway, I opted to just install the short shifter. Anyway, it felt like I was using a short shifter bolted to marshmallows.. basically like well a short oem shifter. I than installed the aluminum bushings and wow! The base bushings make the shifter feel more knotchy... The way a shifter should feel like! It feels better than an S2000's shifter now. I cannot wait till they make the cable bushings for the 07 Civic Si!! I'll be the first one to buy it!!!

One more thing... I noticed that there were two sets of ball joint cable ties on the shifter. the short shifter kit takes care of the vertical throw... Why not make an adapter for the horizontal throw?... Food for thought...

I haven't tried any of the other shift knobs BUT when I took off the OEM knob, I was surprised by its weight. The factory knob is rather hefty in its own right. I like the fact that, with the factory knob with leather on the sides, It won't feel like im grabbing the wrong end of a hot pan or an ice cream cone... depending on the season LOL! On the other hand, I do kinda like the artillery shell looking shifter... looks easy to shift with... wish it had a leather wrapping on it though... sigh

Yeah i was thinking the same thing. If they had something with leather it might make me more ready to swap to a new shift knob.

Hey Guys,

We do plan to release leather wrapped weighted shift knobs this season, if you sign up to our TWM newsletter you'll be notified upon their release.

Thanks!

Just installed the SS, Base Bushings and the Cable bushings.

The Cable bushings took about 10 minutes to install the short shifter probably about 15 minutes and the crappy base bushings about 2 hours. I tried my darnest not to drop the bushings and even
had it tied to a little string but the string came off and the bushing went into NoMansLand. I had to loosen the main Console and went fishing for the bushing. Couldn't find that sucker anywhere. It got jammed right under the Handbrake assembly and there was no way to get to it even with the console loosened. I fished for that thing with a coathanger and after drawing first blood and some cuts and bruises and almost breaking my center console in half I finally got that piece of Holy bushing out of there. GEEZZ.. what a workout... If I had known the trouble those little things would cause I would have paid not to ship them.
Personally I don't see a need for the base bushings. I do like the Cable Bushings and the short shifter was a breeze to install but never again Base Bushings

If anyone even consider getting them please do yourself a favor and at least loosen the Center console so you can at least have a chance of squeezing in the bushings and screwing them in. There is no way in Hell that you can install them without dropping them into oblivion unless you are Mini Me and have Paperclips as fingers.

Other than that I like the MOD

Damn it!!!! I forgot that they are getting a leather wrapped shift knob!!!#@@#$$#%^%$ AH well.. whats a little bit of 2nd degree burn for style and function! Bombshell FTW!!! I may dip the knob in some red latex... like the kind on hand tools and leave just the indented part covered. I'll go to home depot and see what they have.
