Because I am bored, religious discussion....

Do good people go to heaven when they die? Do bad people go to hell?
Does something else happen?

I'm don't really subscribe to one religion...but i do believe there is an afterlife...i do not believe in hell...ive seen many theologans speak about hell and they basiacally say that it does not exist, nor does the bible say it exists...just my .02

I also believe in ghosts, demons, spirits, and angels though....

I really don't know if anyone can say with absolute confidence that they know that there is no heaven and no hell.

I am not religious. I consider myself agnostic, because I can't say one way or the other that I believe or don't believe a God exists. There are so many religions the world around with so many different Gods, it is enough to make my head hurt thinking about it.

I also take issue with a lot of religions in our country. I was born and raised Catholic, but as a *** man right now, I find the majority of churches in America to be slightly corrupt.

There are many things in the bible. The bible doesn't say anything, only its interpreters do. I respect people who have faith and who are religious, but to that same token, I do not agree with their influence in politics in this country.

I believe that all religions should have their rights, and as long as their rights are not being impeded upon or they are being discriminated against, they should keep their noses out of politics.

I understand that there are things in this country that are against what they believe in, but you cannot legislate morality. Not everyone believes in your religion.

Having faith is one thing, but I feel that organized religion, for the most part, is corrupt.

I've thought about writing a book. I am going to title it, "I Can't Wait To Die". And not because of heaven or hell. Because I just want to see what happens. I hate not knowing what happens when we die.

Hmmm. A metaphysics question on the civic board:) The question of heaven or hell I would think starts with who would have made such a division and how would the choice be made as to who goes where. Define "good".

it's good to see I'm not the only atheist...

To quote Penn & Teller from their Bullshit episode on the bible.

"Everyone should read the bible. The world needs more atheists."

Perhaps. But many others have read the bible in an attempt to disprove it only to embrace it's message of hope and redemption. C. S.Lewis and Josh Mcdowell as examples. The original poster asked if good people go to heaven and bad people go to hell. I personally believe that physical death is not the end and that we are more than just advanced animals. If death is the end then let us eat and drink for tomorrow we die and our life was pointless.

you're an idiot. If there was a god, he'd educate you to use proper English with punctuation. BTW, lay off the drugs.

+1.

Rep up for brutal honesty. Someone had to tell him, good thing it wasn't me. It wouldn't have been as nice.

I'm agnostic, and I don't consider their to be a "God" because one person claims they've had a spiritual encounter. That's called a hallucination, and occurs as a side effect from one of many drugs that you should probably stop taking, because the FDA doesn't seem to realize that poor typing is another side effect.

In any case, back to the real discussion.

I don't care but I hate it when people push their belief's on someone else. Then again, if someone starts a thread that says let's talk about it, I'm going to talk about it.
